FOOD WITH MIGUEL MAESTRE UNINDIAN Fresh from filming a feature alongside Nicole Kidman, up and coming Indian actress Tannishtha Chattergee invites Miguel to cook with her at Kashi's Indian Restaurant. As a tribute to her Bollywood/Australian film,"Unindian," Miguel and Tannishtha make the ultimate Indian Australian fusion - Naan Pizza. FAST FACTS • Tannishtha Chatterjee gained international attention for her performance in Sarah Gavron’s celebrated UK feature Brick Lane, which saw her nominated as Best Actress at The British Independent Film Awards alongside Judi Dench and Anne Hathaway. • She just finished filming the film Lion! with Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel. • Her big Bollywood films include: Shiddarth and Monsoon Shootout • Unindian is an Australian/ Indian co-production with half the cast and crew from both countries. • Brett Lee, acclaimed former fast bowler and now musician/ actor, plays the lead role in his first ever lead on the big screen. • The film was shot on location all around Sydney with locations ranging from Parramatta to Maroubra and showcasing all the stunning parts of the city and harbour. • The plot: When a beautiful divorcee and single mother of one, Meera (Tannishtha Chatterjee), meets the charming Will (Brett Lee) love is the last thing on her mind. An Australian of Indian origin, Meera has settled in Sydney and carved out a successful career and life for both her and her daughter. • But Meera's marital status is the subject of much discussion within her family and she is encouraged on a seemingly daily basis to marry 'a nice, rich Indian man’. Does she do as her family wishes? … Or does she follow her heart and live her life the way she wants to? • Highlighting the complexities of Indian diaspora and wooing another from a different culture, Unindian is a romantic comedy with a lot of heart and a little spice! • The film has been described as “a lamb chop with Tandoori sauce!” • The film is the first feature created by the Australia India Film Fund – a company set up to make co-productions between the two countries. • Notable cast members include: John Howard (Packed to The Rafters); Sarah Roberts (Wolf Creek 2 and Neighbours) and Tiriel Mora (The Castle). It also contains some major Aussie Bollywood stars such as Nicholas Brown and Pallavi Shardi. PIZZA NAAN Ingredients 500g self raising flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 500g natural Greek yoghurt 2 tbsp ghee, plus extra to brush small handful fresh curry leaves Toppings tomato passatta tomato relish prosciutto tandoori chicken, shredded olives, sliced red onion, finely sliced Manchego cheese, grated paneer cheese, crumbled basil leaves cherry tomatoes, halved Method 1. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, yoghurt, ghee and curry leaves in a bowl, tip onto a clean, flat, lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth. 2. Divide the dough into 6 pieces and roll each piece into a flat disc. Brush with extra ghee. 3. Heat a barbeque grill until hot and cook the naan breads for 2-3 minutes each side or until golden and cooked through. 4. Once naan bread is cooked, top with a selection of favourite toppings. Serve.
