STEMFEST: Thank you to all who have signed up to participate in STEMFEST on December 8th!! We still have spaces available, but the extended deadline to register is THIS FRIDAY (November 9th.) We invite you to join us and to share the attached flyer with family members and friends who have children in Grades 2 through 8.

VETERANS DAY: Wai’alae School will be CLOSED on Monday November 12th in observance of the Veterans Day Holiday.

FALL CONCERT: Our Fall Concert (for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5) will be on Monday November 19th at the Kaimuki High School Theatre. There are two show times and all students are in both performances. Parents, if you placed an order for a Fall concert t-shirt, orders will be distributed during the week of November 13th.

THANKSGIVING DAY HOLIDAY & BREAK: Wai’alae School will be CLOSED on Thursday November 22nd and Friday November 23rd in observance of the Thanksgiving Day Holiday and Break.

KAIMUKI CHRISTMAS PARADE: The 2018 Kaimuki Business & Professional Association’s Kaimuki Christmas Parade will be held on Thursday December 6th. Families are invited to participate and represent Wai’alae School! See attached flyer.

HAWAIIAN CULTURE APPRECIATION DAY: Aloha Parents, we are in need of volunteers and donations for our Hawaiian Culture Appreciation Day, which is scheduled for Friday December 14th. Please see attached flyers. Your kokua, in whichever way is possible, is greatly appreciated. Mahalo to all who have already volunteered to help or make a donation!!

SYMPHONY OF THE HAWAIIAN BIRDS OHANA CONCERT: University of Hawaii and Hawaii Symphony Orchestra present Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds Ohana Concert on Wednesday November 14th. See attached flyer for details.

SEEQS PUBLIC CHARTER MIDDLE SCHOOL: Fifth graders and their families are invited to attend an Open House Informational Session to learn more about this Public Charter Middle School. Wai’alae School believes students and families should find schools that are the “right fit” to ensure a successful educational journey. To assist our fifth grade families (and anyone else who is doing research on middle schools), we have gathered information from several schools in the area. Some are offering campus tours or open houses and some have provided informational packets that will either be distributed or can be picked up from Mrs. Sumida, Family Outreach Advisor.

72nd Annual Kaimuki Christmas Parade Thursday December 6, 2018

sponsored by the Kaimuki Business & Professional Association (KBPA)

 Parade Route: Waialae Avenue, from Saint Louis School to Koko Head Avenue. (Approximately 1.1 miles)  Attire: RED Wai`alae School t-shirt or any RED/festive/holiday attire.  Other Attire: Wearing holiday hats, necklaces, and other holiday accessories is encouraged.  This is a FAMILY activity, siblings of all ages can join in. Family pets on leashes or carried are welcomed too! (Decorating strollers/wagons also adds to the festive atmosphere.)

Meet at Saint Louis School no later than 5pm on December 6th, More details about the Parade will be sent home to registered participants. The Parade begins promptly at 6pm, and usually concludes by 8pm. Statewide Testing Advanced Notice Winter/Spring 2019

Starting in February of the current 2018-2019 school year, all students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will take the online Smarter Balance Assessments Consortium in English Language Arts and Math. Grade 4 will also take the Hawaii State Science Assessment. Your child may take the assessments on different days during the testing window, which is from Tuesday, February 19, 2018 to Thursday, May 31, 2019.

All classes, in all grade levels, will be administered their tests on the same day, in their classrooms or designated areas, as scheduled. The test schedule is as follows in chronological order, and then by grade level:
