Our ~ost estimates have assumed a lot of volunteer labor from the membership in those areas in which we can reasonably expect to save money by so doing, i.e., in the wood work and in the odd job upgrades like adding foa~ and support to the existing structures. Our J\YC tradition has included this type of activity whenever it has been feasible. Ne want to keep our club as inexpensive and as desirable as we can, not only for ourselves now but also for our membership in ten years. So ... when you receive a request to help out with the hoardboat docks and rigging docks, let's all pitch in and get those jobs done. If you can't drill a hole or drive a nail , you can carry wood. If you can't carry wood, you can serve refreshments. If you can't stay all day, come for a couple of hours. There wi ll he a job for all who can help. I feel that our traditional pitch-in and hel? attitude has contributed immensely toward our club pride and spirit. That in turn has helped attract ton notch sail ors and has f ostered an environr:ient in which •'le have all grown in our sailing skills. It has helped make us not just another yacht club but a great yacht club. How many clubs of any size can boast of having sent representatives to four USYRU national final events this year -- plus having an Olympic team competitor in their membership, not to mention having members who won a major class North American championship? I' 11 venture to say none. At this time I would like to congratulate Al Alyn and the team racing team who finished fourth, Linda ~lcDavitt and the Adams team, John Bartlett and the Mallory team, and Matt Romberg who Hon the O'Day char.rpionshin. And if anybody doesn't al ready know, Paul Foerster will be racing in Seoul under the AYC burgee, and Scott Young and \like Haggerty won the J-24 North Americans over the traditionally strong f ield in that class. Yes, AYC is a pretty special place. Good luck, good sailinq, and I'll see you at the work narties.     Catalina 22 - An All-Around Champion A 40 year history of the Builder, the Class, and the People who Love This Boat! 1969 - 2009 Prepared by Rich Fox Catalina 22 National Sailing Association First Release - November 2009 MILESTONE YEARS OF THE CATALINA 22 July 1969 The Catalina 22 is built in North Hollywood, California. Frank Butler hopes to build 100 boats if all goes well. August 1972 A Catalina 22 Race is held in California and is tagged by Frank Butler as the “Catalina 22 Nationals”. The Catalina 22 National Sailing Association is formed. February 1975 Hull number 5000 is built. February 1980 SAIL Magazine names the Catalina 22 as “Trailerable Boat of the Decade”. September 1980 Hull number 10,000 is built. The Catalina 22 is built in plants in California, Florida, England, Australia and Canada. 1985 The Catalina 22 “New Design” is introduced for the 1986 model year. February 1990 Hull number 15,000 is built. January 1995 The Catalina 22 MkII is introduced, beginning with hull number 15,348, and features an enlarged deck, transom and interior. February 1995 The Catalina 22 is named as one of the five charter members to the Sailboat Hall of Fame. Fall 2001 The Catalina 22 National Sailing Association approaches Frank Butler about building a new Catalina 22 that more closely matches the design of the original Catalina 22. June 2004 The Catalina 22 Sport is built, beginning with hull number 15,540. The Sport and MkII models are manufactured in Woodland Hills, California. July 2009 The Catalina 22 MkII and Sport remain in production 40 years later with relocation of manufacturing facilities to Largo, Florida.

    “2020 Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club Fall Dinghy Series” Sept 7 thru Nov 1, 2020 NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 2 SAFETY 2.1 Life jacket and shoes are required for each sailor. Juniors are required to wear life jackets while sailing. 2.2 It is anticipated that Covid 19 safety precautions will still be in place and you are expected to follow the Beaufort County Face Mask Ordinance as well as CDC recommendations. An informal social time with refreshments may be organized for after the races and/or at awards, but everyone is responsible for their own safety, including self distancing. Masks are optional while racing, but are required to be worn on shore in those situations which inherently put people within 6 feet of fellow attendees. If you are not comfortable with the social arrangements it is your responsibility to avoid the social gatherings. 2.3 US Sailing, South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association and BYSC recommend singlehanded sailing or family sailing during the Covid 19 Pandemic. The safety and health of each member (or participant, or sailor) is the responsibility of the individual member (or participant, or sailor). 2.4 The signal boat will be minimally staffed due to social distancing guidelines. Competitors are requested to take this into consideration during the course of events. 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to one-design dinghy classes. The Regatta is only open to BYSC members and students of BCSB.

We had 120 memberships 10:00 AM - Noon represented at the first work party and were able to accomplish almost everything that was on our lists.
