She also exchanged burgees with Joseph A. Tringali (below left), Palm Beach Sailing Club. S/C Ann Ach and Jim had dinner at Le Train Bleu, located in the Gare de Lyon in Paris. The restaurant was created in 1900 and has been designated a historic monument by the government of France. Each ornate dining room is themed to represent one French city and region. DECEMBER 2019 BREEZE/5 CYC Flashback! Elliott Olson dug deep into his files and found this article about his win at the Lake Havasu Regatta from a 1974 issue of the Breeze. Elliott describes how CYC began hosting more one design racing and the thrill of racing Pacific Catamarans: “I became One Design Invitational Chairman after complaining that CYC was mostly a big boat racing club (an excellent one), to the exclusion of small boat one-design racing.

    Portsmouth Number List 2019 The RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme is provided to enable clubs to allow boats of different classes to race against each other fairly. The RYA actively encourages clubs to adjust handicaps where classes are either under or over performing compared to the number being used. The Portsmouth Yardstick list combines the Portsmouth numbers with class configuration and the total number of races returned to the RYA in the annual return. This additional data has been provided to help clubs achieve the stated aims of the Portsmouth Yardstick system and make adjustments to Portsmouth Numbers where necessary. Clubs using the PN list should be aware that the list is based on the typical performance of each boat across a variety of clubs and locations. Experimental numbers are based on fewer returns and are to be used as a guide for clubs to allocate as a starting number before reviewing and adjusting where necessary. The list of experimental Portsmouth Numbers will be periodically reviewed by the RYA and is based on data received via PY Online. Users of the PY scheme are reminded that all Portsmouth Numbers published by the RYA should be regarded as a guide only. The RYA list is not definitive and clubs should adjust where necessary. Champagne Brunch The Club is in great shape and the docks are all in as of the Monday, May 30 April 30th work party. We had 120 memberships 10:00 AM - Noon represented at the first work party and were able to accomplish almost everything that was on our lists.     PARENT/SAILOR MANUAL Dear Parents and Sailors, Welcome to the LBYC Summer Sailing Program! Our goal for the summer is to instill a lifelong appreciation for sailing and yacht racing by creating an environment that promotes sportsmanship, safety, and the fun of being on the water. This manual provides valuable information on boat safety, necessary gear, daily events and much more. Please take the time to thoroughly read it with your sailor as it’s very important that rules and expectations are understood by everyone participating in our program. An agreement on the last page must be signed by each parent and sailor prior to the first day of the program.
