Sanctuary Theology in the Book of Exodus
Andrews University Seminary Studies, Summer 1986, Vol. 24, No. 2, 127-145. Copyright@ 1986 by Andrews University Press. SANCTUARY THEOLOGY IN THE BOOK OF EXODUS ANGEL MANUEL RODRIGUEZ Antillian College Mayaguez, Puerto Rico 00709 The book of Exodus is the first OT book that mentions the Israelite sanctuary. This book provides us not only with precise information with respect to the sanctuary's physical structure and furniture, but also with basic information on its significance. The present study proposes to take an overview of several important theological motifs that emerge in connection with the ancient Israelite sanctuary as portrayed in the book of Exodus. Although various of these aspects have already been noticed by other researchers, my hope herein is to bring together certain significant elements in such a way as to broaden our understanding of the ancient Hebrew concept of the meaning of the ancient Israelite sanctuary. At the outset, it is appropriate to state that the various ele- ments we shall consider all have a bearing upon, and contribute to, an overarching theological concern related to the OT sanctuary/ temple: namely, the presence of Yahweh. Moreover, the book of Exodus is foundational for a proper understanding of this basic motif, as it describes how the people of Israel were miraculously delivered from Egyptian slavery by Yahweh, and how, by his grace, they became a holy nation under his leadership. He entered into a covenant relationship with them, and gave them the precious gift of his own presence.' 'The theology of the presence of God is a very important one in the OT. -

PRESS RELEASE Artist: Maciek Schejbal Album: Afro-Polka Label: Afro-Polka Productions Release Date: August 30, 2018 Maciek Schejbal (pronounced MAH-chek SHAY-bal) is world-class drummer based in New York City. In addi- tion to gigging and touring with jazz bands and afro-pop groups, Maciek is an instructor at the Drummers Collec- tive in Manhattan. The Drummers Collective is generally thought of as the drumming equivalent of Los Angeles’ Guitar Institute of Technology. Afro-Polka is Maciek’s brand and a nascent genre of music. It’s the soundtrack of one musician’s voyage from Eastern Europe through South Africa to the USA. He has traveled, listened, learned and amalgamated a huge amount of styles, traditions and art forms into a strong, singular and original musical voice. From Cracow, to Johannesburg and Cape Town, and then onto New York City, Maciek has formed crack rhythm sections with some of the best bass players in the world. Afro-Polka great musicians he has collaborated with in his journeys. Don’t be scared by the polka, these fresh sounding tracks are is Maciek’s irst album consisting entirely of his compositions. The tunes are performed here with many very afro-pop and jazz focused. The polka is the added seasoning that makes it unique. Every player on this record is a virtuoso and has played in bands with or on albums of some very well known musical artists and they are all deserving of recognition. Due to space constraints and the emphasis on the Maciek’s partner- ships with bass players, here are some notable connections of the bass players on this album: Fred Doumbe (Manu Dibango, Les Nubians); Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon’s Graceland); Leo Traversa (Angelique Kidjo, Don Byron); Gregory Jones (Astrid Gilberto, Savion Glover); Essiet Okon Essiet (Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard); John Patitucci (Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea). -

A R C H O N S HIDDEN RULERS THROUGH THE AGES A R C H O N S HIDDEN RULERS THROUGH THE AGES WATCH THIS IMPORTANT VIDEO UFOs, Aliens, and the Question of Contact MUST-SEE THE OCCULT REASON FOR PSYCHOPATHY Organic Portals: Aliens and Psychopaths KNOWLEDGE THROUGH GNOSIS Boris Mouravieff - GNOSIS IN THE BEGINNING ...1 The Gnostic core belief was a strong dualism: that the world of matter was deadening and inferior to a remote nonphysical home, to which an interior divine spark in most humans aspired to return after death. This led them to an absorption with the Jewish creation myths in Genesis, which they obsessively reinterpreted to formulate allegorical explanations of how humans ended up trapped in the world of matter. The basic Gnostic story, which varied in details from teacher to teacher, was this: In the beginning there was an unknowable, immaterial, and invisible God, sometimes called the Father of All and sometimes by other names. “He” was neither male nor female, and was composed of an implicitly finite amount of a living nonphysical substance. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas. -

The tour, which benefits the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation’s Half- Earth Project, begins June 1 in St. Augustine, Florida, and ends June 28 in Denver, Colorado. Sadly, there’s no New York shows. RELATED – Slip Slidin’ Away: Paul Simon Moves Montauk Bluffs Cottage Simon is still touring in support of his 13th solo studio album, Stranger to Stranger, which was released via Concord Records on June 3, 2016—almost exactly one year before his latest list of shows kicks off. Stranger to Stranger debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200, making it Simon’s most successful debut on the chart. The album, which offers a series of experimental tracks played on instruments custom-made by composer Harry Partch, topped the UK charts and was hailed by critics. It was Simon’s first studio record since 2011’s So Beautiful or So What. Simon has threatened to retire in recent years, so one never know which tour will be his last. Don’t you miss those All for the Sea concerts at Southampton College or, going way back, his concerts at Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk? If you can find your way outside the Empire State, his tour dates are as follows: June 1 – St.
