It has multiple uses and is a gift of mother nature. In the last few decades bamboo lost its importance as a daily life use article to modernisation and new age materials, but now with a renewed vigour bamboo is set to bounce back on centre stage to bolster the rural economy owing to the multiple uses in products such as engineered bamboo wood, bamboo ply boards, flooring, wall cladding, furniture, ethanol, charcoal and many other uses. The forest department has set up a centre of excellence for bamboo at Chichpalli, Chandrapur and in a short span of time two hundred artisans have received skill enhancement training on bamboo. Realising its importance and its future value, Government has already set up a Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board in August 2016. In addition, the Government also constituted a Committee to look into all aspects of this resource and give a road map for strengthening the sector. -

The meeting had a focused agenda to finalise State Annual Credit Plan for 2015-16 including crop loan disbursements. Chief Guest of the meeting was Hon’ble Chief Minister, Maharashtra State, Shri Devendra Fadnavis. Shri Sushil Muhnot, Chairman, SLBC and Chairman & Managing Director, Bank of Maharashtra chaired the meeting. Shri Eknath Khadse, Minister for Agriculture, Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister for Finance & Planning, Shri Ram Shinde, Minister of State for Agriculture & Horticulture, Dr. P.S. ISSN 1567-214x Keywords: Representation, Caste-Category, Political Parties, Social democracy, ABSTRACT Caste is an undeniable reality in Indian Social-Political Life. Various factors such as political process, voting, candidature, composition of council of Ministers are compulsorily and irrevocably affected by caste. Castewise reservation was given in post-independence era for the transformation of political democracy into social democracy. All political parties claim to be all inclusive. They try to get support of all castes and relgions in order to get elected and to continue the acquired power. The present paper has tried to shed light on social representation of various political parties in last three Vidhan Sabha Elections in Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra State in India. It also tries to understand social mass basis of political parties and different communities' priority of political parties. Need of study: The social mass base of political parties need to be strong in order to win elections and preserve the acquired power in Indian democracy. -
