`On December 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty decided to take action against British laws and taxation. Disguised as Native Americans, members of the Sons of Liberty stormed aboard the three British ships sitting in the Boston harbor. Once onboard the ships, they dumped 342 chests of tea overboard in the harbor. No one was hurt, and the participants reportedly cleaned the ships’ decks before they left. They destroyed over 92,000 pounds of tea. Today, that amount of tea would be worth close to one million dollars. The was a protest by the American Colonists in regards to the tea taxes that the British had imposed on them. Paul Revere and other colonists disguised themselves in an attempt to fool the British but the British knew who ruined their tea. The king considered the tea dumping as an act of rebellion.
