Welcome to the second dinner discussion of the New England Circle with Guest Speaker, Dr. Henry Steele Commager.

Our purpose is to assemble with others for discussion of social, political, literary, and educational topics, having as a common goal the exchange of ideas and opinions that can lead to constructive change in our nation and in our personal lives.

Dr. Henry Steele Commager is a distinguished professor of history at in Massachusetts.

His chief interests have been constitutional and intellectual history, but as an essayist, lecturer, editor, teacher, and conversationalist, he has ranged far and wide.

Among his works are: The Growth of the American Republic, written and collaborated with ; The Biography of ; The American Mind, Freedom, Loyalty, Dissent; Documents of American History, over 600 documents from the age of discovery to the present; and dozens of others.

Teaching is his first love, and he has pursued it at Columbia, , Cambridge, Oxford, and Amherst.
