Current Situation The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic that originated in Wuhan, China was recorded at 8,246 as of March 18, while the total number of confirmed cases has reached over 204,277 worldwide. As of March 18, new cases were confirmed in Barbados, Djibouti, Gambia, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, and Zambia. First COVID-19-related deaths were recorded in Bangladesh, Guatemala, Brazil, Turkey, and Moldova. In Burkina Faso, the death of a Member of Parliament on March 18 marked the first COVID-related death in the country as well. In Europe, the EU announced a ban on travelers from outside the bloc for 30 days, as of March 18. The measure is expected to apply to all EU member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. Meanwhile, Belgium introduced a partial lockdown on March 18, with residents only allowed to leave their homes in order to buy essential goods, receive medical attention, or go to banks. In Serbia, all residents will be required to remain indoors between 20:00-05:00 (local time) each night. On March 17, authorities in Saudi Arabia suspended prayers at mosques across the Kingdom until further notice. Tunisian authorities also declared a nationwide curfew every night from 18:00 (local time) to 06:00, starting on March 18. In Niger, the government on March 17 announced the closure of all borders, and of all International airports for an indefinite period. In Chile, any citizens returning to the country will have to self-quarantine for 14-days. In Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro announced a partial closure of the Brazilian border with Venezuela. -

Satoh2 1Nihon University, Japan 2Nihon Harbor Consultants Ltd., Japan Abstract Okinawa Prefecture marked the 40th anniversary of its reversion to Japanese sovereignty from US control in 2012. Such isolated islands are almost under the environment separated by the mainland and the sea, so that they have the economic differences from the mainland and some policies for being active isolated islands are taken. It is necessary to promote economical measures in order to increase the prosperity of isolated islands through initiatives involving tourism, fisheries, manufacturing, etc. In this study, Ishigaki Island was considered as an example of such an isolated island. Ishigaki Island is located to the west of the main islands of Okinawa and the second-largest island of the Yaeyama Island group. Ishigaki Island falls under the jurisdiction of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan’s southernmost prefecture, which is situated approximately half-way between Kyushu and Taiwan. Both islands belong to the Ryukyu Archipelago, which consists of more than 100 islands extending over an area of 1,000 km from Kyushu (the southwesternmost of Japan’s four main islands) to Taiwan in the south. Located between China and mainland Japan, Ishigaki Island has been culturally influenced by both countries. Much of the island and the surrounding ocean are protected as part of Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park. Ishigaki Airport, built in 1943, is the largest airport in the Yaeyama Island group. The runway and air security facilities were improved in accordance with passenger demand for larger aircraft, and the airport became a tentative jet airport in May 1979. -

In June 2019, INV sold two residential assets for extremely favorable terms as a continuation of its asset recycling program. Mainly for regional airports, low-cost carriers have represented an important opportunity to improve their connectivity levels and passenger traffic. Furthermore, many regional airports have become key factors to regenerate the local economy by improving accessibility and stimulating several markets, such as tourism. However, the relationship between low-cost carriers and airports is rather complex and the outcomes not always predictable. In order to analyse and understand better such relationship and its outcomes, this chapter discusses the main underlying factors identified in: relation with the regional air market (secondary/primary airports), balance of power (dominated/non-dominated airports) and industrial organisation (bases/non-bases). Starting from the proposed Relative Closeness Index, which combines yearly airport passengers and distance between airport pairs, a large sample of European airports is analysed. Then, a smaller sub-sample – which includes selected, significant case studies referring to mid-sized airports – is discussed in detail. Among the main findings, airports sharing their catchment area with others are in a very risky position, due to the potential mobility of LCCs, while geographically isolated airports in good catchment areas can better counterbalance the power of carriers. -

The earlier and easier way is as follows: First, you have to go to Osaka (Itami) Airport by limousine bus from Kansai International Airport. It takes about 75 minutes and the bus fare is 1,700 yen. Next, you go to Fukushima Airport by domestic air from Osaka (Itami) Airport. It takes about 65 minutes and the air fare is 25,500 - 27,500 yen. Finally, you go to Koriyama Railway station by limousine bus from Fukushima Airport. It takes about 40 minutes and the bus fare is 800 yen. You can also take a taxi from Fukushima Airport to Koriyama Railway station, it takes about 30 minutes and the taxi fare is about 6,000 yen.
