An immersive- interactive gallery of live performance installations. Control Group Productions, SWEET EDGE dance, and NY sound/video team Jason Akira Somma and Adriano Clemente delve into acts of creation, manipulation, and perception of our world. Rolling admission, doors open 7-10pm. Driven by fundamental questions about our ability to affect our own worlds – the nature of the creative act, the perception of abundance or scarcity, and our ability to change ourselves and the world around us. Nov. 8 & 9: EVOLVING DOORS DANCE "Sum of your Parts" Friday & Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre, 119 Park Ave. West, Denver 80205. An evening-length work that investigates how all our body parts create an individual. This show is a stirring mix of movement, image, contact, and dissection. It includes guest duet collaboration with seated dancer, Teri Western (Founder and Director of Spoke N Motion Dance) and guest solo collaboration with former Evolving Doors Dance cast member, Ying Zhu, as well as the sound scores of Amy Shelley and choreography of Angie Simmons. The classic tale of finding success and romance in the big city is given a contemporary, and unconventional, spin in Alan Brown’s new film, FIVE DANCES. A story about Chip (Ryan Steele in his first film role), an extraordinarily talented 18 year-old recently arrived from Kansas who joins a small downtown modern dance company. In his first weeks of rehearsal, Chip is initiated into the rites of passage of a New York dancer’s life, where discipline and endless hard work, camaraderie and competitiveness, the fear of not being good enough, and the joy of getting it just right, inform every minute of every day.
