21st October 2014 Report On Ras Garba Raas or Dandiya Raas is the traditional folk dance form of Gujarat. Along with Garba, it is the featured dance of Navratri evenings in Western India. During Navratri festival, people gather and perform Garba dance. Raas Lila and Dandiya Raas are similar. Some even consider "Garba" as a form of Raas, namely "Raas Garba". Garba is performed before Aarti (worshipping ritual) as devotional performances in the honor of the Goddess Durga, while Dandiya is performed after it as a part of merriment. Poornima hostel and Wise together celebrated the raas garba on Saturday evening, 21st October 2015 in “Gayatri Girls Hostel” with great enthusiasm. The function continued from 6:30pm to 10:00 pm. Traditional dress code “ghaghra choli” was followed by all the students. This event brought awareness among the students about the traditional customs while enjoying the Dandiya night. The total strength of students present in the eve of dandiya night was approx 450.The whole celebration was full of enthusiasm, fun and franticness. The night started with the “Aarti” which was done by our First Lady of Poornima Foundation Mrs. Renu Singhi and Mrs Nipun Singhi & accompanied by our respected chief warden mam Mrs. Sudha Jain, WISE Coordinator Mrs Suchi Dave and mentorship faculty co-coordinator & Wardens. A dance too was performance by of the group of 10 members under WISE .The celebration ended up with the award ceremony and girls were awarded for their awesome performances. They were also entitled for their talent and looks. The Best dress Award : Ms Alisha The Best Dance Award : Ms Akriti Singh .
