Is there any independent information about any current ill-treatment of Sindhi people in Maharashtra state? 2. Is there any independent information about any current ill-treatment of Sindhi people in Maharashtra state? Executive Summary Information available on Sindhi websites, in press reports and in academic studies suggests that, generally speaking, the Sindhi community in Maharashtra state are not ill-treated. Most writers who address the situation of Sindhis in Maharashtra generally concern themselves with the social and commercial success which the Sindhis have achieved in Mumbai (where the greater part of the Sindh’s Hindu populace relocated after the partition of India and Pakistan). One news article was located which reported that the Sindhi community had been targeted for extortion, along with other “mercantile communities”, by criminal networks affiliated with Maharashtra state’s Sihiv Sena organisation. -

Temporally, it has been focused on contextual issues that demand more than just land reforms. Peasant activists have, over the years, pursued roughly articulated, expedient and highly diverse agendas that are enacted by the mix of civil society activists, NGOs and ethnic peasant activists. In this article, which is the result of ethnographic study and the analysis of secondary ethnographic and historical data, effort has been made to trace the formation of peasantivist agendas and strategies in Sindh, particularly tracing it from the peasant struggle of Shah Inayat in 17 th century. The introduction of exploitative Batai system during British rule, the consequent institutionalization of sharecropping, establishment of Hari Committee in 1930s, the launching of Batai Tehreek and Elati Tehreek have been traced in relation to shifting peasantivist agendas. Failure of peasant activists to bring about substantive land reforms and the recent process of NGO-ising of peasant activism, have been analyzed vis-à-vis historical past. Country Policy and Information Note Pakistan: Christians and Christian converts Version 4.0 February 2021 Preface Purpose This note provides country of origin information (COI) and analysis of COI for use by Home Office decision makers handling particular types of protection and human rights claims (as set out in the Introduction section). It is not intended to be an exhaustive survey of a particular subject or theme. It is split into two main sections: (1) analysis and assessment of COI and other evidence; and (2) COI. These are explained in more detail below. Assessment This section analyses the evidence relevant to this note – i.e. the COI section; refugee/human rights laws and policies; and applicable caselaw – by describing this and its inter-relationships, and provides an assessment of, in general, whether one or more of the following applies: x A person is reasonably likely to face a real risk of persecution or serious harm x The general humanitarian situation is so severe as to breach Article 15(b) of European Council Directive 2004/83/EC (the Qualification Directive) / Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights as transposed in paragraph 339C and 339CA(iii) of the Immigration Rules x The security situation presents a real risk to a civilian’s life or person such that it would breach Article 15(c) of the Qualification Directive as transposed in paragraph 339C and 339CA(iv) of the Immigration Rules x A person is able to obtain protection from the state (or quasi state bodies) x A person is reasonably able to relocate within a country or territory x A claim is likely to justify granting asylum, humanitarian protection or other form of leave, and x If a claim is refused, it is likely or unlikely to be certifiable as ‘clearly unfounded’ under section 94 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002. -

While the phenomenon has troubled a significant part of the world, Pakistan is no exception in this regard. This research explores the role of the Mahsud tribe in the rise of the religious militancy in South Waziristan Agency (SWA). It further investigates the impact of militancy on the socio-cultural and political transformation of the Mahsuds. The study undertakes this research based on theories of religious militancy, borderland dynamics, ungoverned spaces and transformation. The findings suggest that the rise of religious militancy in SWA among the Mahsud tribes can be viewed as transformation of tribal revenge into an ideological conflict, triggered by flawed state policies. These policies included, disregard of local culture and traditions in perpetrating military intervention, banning of different militant groups from SWA and FATA simultaneously, which gave them the raison d‘etre to unite against the state and intensify violence and the issues resulting from poor state governance and control. -

Political Background behind Migration of Sindhi Community and their Participation in Independence of India: an Exclusive Insight Dr. Manju Lalwani Pathak, Department of Economics, Smt. C.H.M. College, Ulhasnagar, University of Mumbai, Maharashtra. ABSTRACT: Sindhis are the linguistic minority of Indo-Aryan group in free India. Every minority study has dominant by political resonance. Sindhis too have this kind of concern; hence this research article is grounded on the past political aspects of Sindhi community. Sindhis are known as migrant community and labeled refugee after partition of India while this community belong to the oldest civilization of the world. One should ask why Sindhis left their motherland; settled in new places of free India and were called refugees? Present research paper unfolds the exclusive and resilience insights behind the platform constructed by political fundamentalists for Sindhis migration. This article also provides the new paradigm regarding active part taken by Sindhis in the struggle for independence of India and substantiated through several incidents. Finally, paper discusses some an answered question and other possible options behind the migration of Sindhis. INTRODUCTION: Every minority study has dominant by political resonance, almost all study have affected by the political affairs of the surroundings. Sindhis too have this kind of concern. Sindh was the origin state of Sindhi community. In Sindh Muslim were in majority and Hindu (all Hindus were Sindhis) were in minority. Power politics forced them to migrate from Sindh to other parts of free India because entire Sindh was given to Muslim Community to form their new country due to Muslim majority. -

The Church OF PAKISTAN Introduction The Anglican Communion consists of 40 autonomous churches, also known as provinces around the world. It encompasses over 165 countries. Important Information Short History The Church of Pakistan is the result of the union of four denominations: Anglican, Methodist, Lutheran and Presbyterian (Scottish), which took place in 1970. The United Presbyterian Church which had been involved in the negotiations did not join. Initially there were four dioceses in the Church of Pakistan, i.e. Karachi, Multan, Lahore and Sialkot, but in 1980, through a special resolution and for better ministerial work, four new dioceses were created: Hyderabad, Raiwind, Faisalabad and Peshawar. There are eight active diocesan bishops with an additional bishop for the Gulf Ministries. This appointment was made to take care of the pastoral and worship needs of Urdu-speaking workers in the Gulf. There is a presiding bishop for the Church of Pakistan who is known as the moderator and has responsibility for a three-year term. M. Gidvani, Shaikh Ayaz, and Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch). For each set of retellings, our purpose will be to determine the epistemological and emotional sympathy the re-teller exhibits for the plot, characters, sentiments, and ideas present in the folktales. This approach, it is hoped, will provide us a glimpse inside the minds of the individual re-tellers and allow us to observe some of the ways in which the exigencies of a secular western modernity had an impact, if any, on the choices they made as they retold Sindhi Sufi folktales. -

150 Years of Oriental Studies at Ca’ Foscari edited by Laura De Giorgi and Federico Greselin Ca’ Foscari and Pakistan Thirty Years of Archaeological Surveys and Excavations in Sindh and Las Bela (Balochistan) Paolo Biagi (Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, Italia) Abstract This paper regards the research carried out by the Italian Archaeological Mission in Sindh and Las Bela province of Balochistan (Pakistan). Until the mid ’80s the prehistory of the two regions was known mainly from the impressive urban remains of the Bronze Age Indus Civilisation and the Pal- aeolithic assemblages discovered at the top of the limestone terraces that estend south of Rohri in Up- per Sindh. Very little was known of other periods, their radiocarbon chronology, and the Arabian Sea coastal zone. Our knowledge radically changed thanks to the discoveries made during the last three decades by the Italian Archaeological Mission. Thanks to the results achieved in these years, the key role played by the north-western regions of the Indian Subcontinent in prehistory greatly improved. Jhalak Sindhyat Jee (A glimpse into Sindhi culture) A grand evening of Sindhi Music, dance and comedy on 23 Nov 2018 Organised by ASHA CHAND Report by Jagdish Tahiliani Packed with Sindhi audience this weekend, the Sheikh Rashid Hall in Dubai was awash with heartfelt merriment, high decibel applause and an overwhelming love for Sindhi culture. Jhalak Sindhyat Jee meaning ‘a Glimpse into Sindhi culture’ was a compelling programme that kept the audience enthralled through passionate Sindhi songs, graceful dance performances and humour. The program was officially inaugurated by Consul General of India in Dubai Shri. Vipul Kumar who hailed the achievements & contributions of Sindhis in every sphere of life. Dr.Ram Buxani and main sponsor of the event Mr. Naresh Bhavnani of West Zone Supermarket chain, shared the dais with the Consul General. Jatin Udasi, a very popular singer from Mumbai for Sindhi & Hindi songs rendered soulful music and he lived to his name of a truly melodious singer. Shazia Khushk from Sindh Pakistan belted out foot tapping popular Sindhi songs to which the audience swayed and clapped thunderously while some spilled out onto the aisles and danced in a hypnotic mood. Many of the songs were accompanied by a team of young dancers from Dubai who added a lot of color and zest to the show with their synchronized moves. A large LED screen lit up the stage with a myriad of colors. This show also featured a popular laada from 1960’s Hal Marya ghot peya to which Dubai residents Jagdish Tahiliani and Harshita Motiyani added a special flavor by dancing with the group of young dancers and enacting typical fun making of family members which is usually an integral part of such Sindhi weddings.
