The spectral inversion method was applied to separate the three effects – path, source and site amplification. This technique is the most appropriate for analyzing site response since amplification is only attributed to the effect of sedimentary soil layers over a basement. The earthquake data used were 55 seismic events observed at 19 seismic recording stations from 2003 to 2013. Most of the earthquakes used in the analysis were small events with a Local Magnitude ML between 4.0 and 5.0.

CISMID, Faculty of Civil Engineering, National University of Engineering, Lima, Peru Abstract: Deep shear-wave velocity profiles at eight places in Lima Peru were estimated based on the inversion of dispersion curves. The dispersion curves were calculated from small and large microtremor arrays using two methods: the F-k proposed by Capon (1969) and the CCA proposed by Cho et al. (2004). For the purpose of large array measurement we introduced a new type of sensor. Important results are the relative shallow depths to the basement rock in the area classified as alluvial gravel that covers most of the area of Lima city; and the relative large depth to the bedrock in places identified as VSV and CMA. It is recommended that this study be complemented with PS loggings in order to verify the estimated profiles.     SOCIAL CONTROL IN THE PROCESS OF AGRONOMY EDUCATION AT THE NATIONAL AGRARIAN UNIVERSITY, IN PERU, 1975/6 -X-X-38HHE Institute of Education xxxx-**** Ross Eric Cooper Ph.D. Abstract The thesis explores the process of social control involved in the teaching of agronomy at the National Agrarian University in Peru, 1975/6. It is concerned with the social origins, the organisation, the mechanisms, the implications and the consequences of the process of social control. It considers the agronomy course within its social context by examining the Agrarian Reform under the Military Government and the role of agronomists in the changing social division of labour. The analysis is developed in a wider social context considering the social policy of 'participation', and focusing on the role of education in the process of social control. This is to place the analysis of the subtle controls in the educational process within a general theory of social control and also to begin to explore the relationship between the educational experience,and power and control in society. It further considers:- 1) The Education Reform 2) The influence of 'financing' 3) The influence and beneficiaries of research at the University 4) The influence of employment prospects. While examining these issues the analysis of agronomists as part of a coherent social group within the tmiddle class' in Peru, who have acquired socially legitimate technical expertise and are committed to the concept and practice of Idevelopmentalismt is developed. It then develops the argument that the subtle controls inbedded in the pedagogy and course structure are part of a wider process of 3 social control that can reproduce power relations.

REVIEW OF EXISTING DEVELOPMENT PLANS This chapter reviews existing development plans for the metropolitan area of Lima and Callao formulated by the central or local government. A particular emphasis is given to the Metropolitan Development Plan for Lima and Callao 1990-2010, which was the latest development plan formulated by the metropolitan municipality of Lima (MML) in 1989. (1) Historical Perspective The development plans for the metropolitan area of Lima and Callao were formulated four (4) times in the past: 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1989. Historically, the formulation of a development plan for the city of Lima, the nation’s capital, was responsibility of the national government. In fact, the first three plans formulated in 1948, 1956, and 1967 were prepared by the national government, the Ministry of Development and Public Works. Under the recent decentralization policy, the fourth plan “Metropolitan Development Plan for Lima-Callao 1990-2010” (hereinafter referred to as the “Metropolitan Development Plan”), was formulated by the provincial government of Lima (it is often referred to as the metropolitan municipality of Lima or “MML”). This is the latest and official plan1 to recommend a future direction and development policy for the metropolitan area. The Metropolitan Institute of Planning (IMP) was established in 1991, based on the recommendation proposed by the Metropolitan Development Plan in 1989.

By using the small and large microtremor array measurements we estimated the soil velocity profiles with depths to the bedrock in many cases. These profiles were used to estimate the amplification factors. Important results are the large amplification factors at EMO, VSV, CAL and CMA (La Molina, Villa El Salvador, El Callao and Bellavista district, respectively). Using ground motion records, the amplification effects are studied empirically, in the frequency range from 0.1 to 20 Hz. This study analyzes the seismic events observed along the Pacific coast of Lima city, which were recorded by 10 stations. Because of the limitation in data, site amplification factors are evaluated by using three different methods: the standard spectral ratio, the spectral inversion method and the H/V ratio, so as to identify the significant peaks and troughs at all sites. Results show that most of the stations present relatively large amplifications in the high-frequency range over 3 Hz, moreover RIN station. Nonetheless, CAL site has a different behavior of amplification.
