The aim, to create an authentic live experience with all of the hits, as well as some of the less well known of Kate’s songs - some of which have never actually been heard played live before. ‘Running Up That Hill’, ‘Wuthering Heights’, ‘Hounds of Love,’ ‘Babooshka’, ‘This Woman’s Work’, ‘Wow’… Cloudbusting perform all the chart hits you’d expect to hear - so those who missed out on her live shows in 1979 and indeed 2014, will love the UK’s longest running and most universally applauded tribute act to Kate. Arguably, the band isn’t a ‘tribute’ in conventional terms, as no one is pretending to be Kate or impersonate her, instead the focus is on the authenticity of the music. Testament to this is that many of Kate’s original collaborators from both stage and the studio have been inspired to join the band for performances. Notably it was these Cloudbusting shows that led to singer Mandy Watson being selected to represent Kate Bush on the BBC. Indeed, since first appearing in 1978 she continues to hold the public’s interest with features on her enigmatic music continuing to appear right up to date in 2021 - that’s certainly a career of note and many would say she ranks as one of the truly great artists that the UK has ever produced, alongside such luminaries as Elton John and David Bowie. Having already completed a successful tour of the Netherlands and Belgium, Cloudbusting are looking forward to working with the same European promoter, as well as others, to further explore opportunities in Europe - as well as the rest of the world. With Kate’s album sales being truly international, there’s certainly a demand from audiences for the band to work further afield - an initiative that’s very much vindicated by the fans who often contact the band via social media, begging Cloudbusting to consider touring in places such as Brazil, Australia, the USA and even the Far East! Live Stream events The 2020 Covid pandemic posed many problems for touring bands - primarily the issue was how to maintain a presence and keep in touch with established audiences. Cloudbusting also wanted to continue to reach out to fans of Kate who hadn’t yet had an opportunity to see the band. Many performers were quick to use social media with ‘lock-down’ performances to camera - both live and as recorded videos including a few ‘cheats’ with bands pretending to play live! Cloudbusting decided that if the band was to appear online, it would be a mistake to approach this like The Kick Inside Del Palmer, Preston Heyman and a ‘normal’ gig. Being very aware that without any audience reaction and the huge amount of energy that Stewart Avon-Arnold together people experience in a live venue, the band would have to address this with their approach. In 1934 the Dutch Veraart performed the first studies on seeding clouds with dry ice. Later on in the 1950s, Vonnegut performed the first experiments by seeding clouds with silver iodide with good results. In the last decades, several operations aimed at producing precipitation, controlling hail damage, dispersing of supercooled fog and clouds over airports, and dispersing clouds cover over large areas were carried out by using chemical agents. Diverting hurricanes path was also performed. However, many often the results that were obtained were contrasting and also sometimes an inversion of the tendency in weather conditions was observed with period of intense drought in areas where rainmaking experiments were previously carried out. In parallel, in the 1950s the Austrian scientist Wilhelm Reich started investigating and experimenting a new method of weather modification aimed at restoring the natural functioning of the atmosphere characterised by periodic cycles of rain and clear weather. The fundamental principle of this method, that was called Cloudbusting, is based on the presence in the atmosphere of a pulsatory cosmic energy (called orgone energy) postulated to be responsible for major atmospheric phenomena.

Instructions: Read the text carefully and answer the questions below. Yngwie J. Malmsteen Yngwie Johann Malmsteen (born Lars Johann Yngve Lannerbäck, June 30, 1963) is a Swedish guitarist, composer and bandleader. Widely recognized as a virtuoso, Malmsteen achieved widespread acclaim in the 1980s due to his technical proficiency and his pioneering neo-classical metal. Guitar One magazine rated him the third fastest guitar shredder in the world after Michael Angelo Batio and Chris Impellitteri. Born into a musical family in Stockholm, Yngwie was the youngest child in the family. At an early age, he showed little interest in music. It wasn't until September 18, 1970 when at age seven he saw a TV special on the death of Jimi Hendrix that Malmsteen became obsessed with the guitar. To quote his official website, "The day Jimi Hendrix died, the guitar-playing Yngwie was born". He claims his first name in Swedish means "young Viking chief". Actually, it is a variation of Yngvi, who founded the House of Yngling, which is the oldest known Swedish dynasty. It has been rumoured that Yngwie believes himself to be the reincarnation of the temperamental, often criticized, and widely misunderstood violinist from Genoa. • Full Results of Survey of Songs
Existential Songs Full results Supplementary material for Mick Cooper’s Existential psychotherapy and counselling: Contributions to a pluralistic practice (Sage, 2015), Appendix. One of the great strengths of existential philosophy is that it stretches far beyond psychotherapy and counselling; into art, literature and many other forms of popular culture. This means that there are many – including films, novels and songs that convey the key messages of existentialism. These may be useful for trainees of existential therapy, and also as recommendations for clients to deepen an understanding of this way of seeing the world. In order to identify the most helpful resources, an online survey was conducted in the summer of 2014 to identify the key existential films, books and novels. Invites were sent out via email to existential training institutes and societies, and through social media. Participants were invited to nominate up to three of each art media that ‘most strongly communicate the core messages of existentialism’. In total, 119 people took part in the survey (i.e., gave one or more response). Approximately half were female (n = 57) and half were male (n = 56), with one of other gender. The average age was 47 years old (range 26–89). The participants were primarily distributed across the UK (n = 37), continental Europe (n = 34), North America (n = 24), Australia (n = 15) and Asia (n = 6). Around 90% of the respondents were either qualified therapists (n = 78) or in training (n = 26). Of these, around two-thirds (n = 69) considered themselves existential therapists, and one third (n = 32) did not. There were 235 nominations for the key existential song, with enormous variation across the different respondents.

In Author a new series, our authors nominate their favourites. David McCooey Professor of Writing and Literature, Deakin University Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love (1985) was the first album I heard on CD. With its use of the Fairlight CMI (a digital synthesizer/sampler workstation), digital reverb, and drum machines, it was perhaps eminently suitable for the CD format. But under its shiny digital sound, Hounds of Love was very much an LP, as seen in its two-part structure. Side one, Hounds of Love, covers themes characteristic of Bush: intimacy and its limits (Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) and The Big Sky); familial love (albeit darkly articulated in Mother Stands for Comfort); and the intensity and ambivalence of sexual desire (Hounds of Love). Meanwhile, side two comprises of The Ninth Wave, a song cycle about a woman who has fallen into the sea at night, with only the “little light” of her life jacket to guide her.
