ROYALS PRE-GAME NOTES • This evening, the Royals visit Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire for the first time in team history.

• Tonight’s game pits Reading and Manchester for the first time in the respective histories of the two organizations. From 2001 (the inaugural year of both the Royals and professional hockey in Manchester in the form of the Monarchs—then of the ) until 2008 (when the Ontario Reign joined the ECHL), the Monarchs were the AHL affiliate of the Royals, who at that time was the ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.

• This game marks the first of what will be ten games between the Royals and Monarchs during the 2015-16 regular season. The two teams play three of those games in a row in Manchester tonight, tomorrow (Saturday, December 5 @ 7:00 pm) and Sunday (December 6 @ 3:00 pm).

• Four of the games in the season series between the Royals and Monarchs will be played in Reading and six will be played here in Manchester. After this weekend’s three game series, the next time the two teams will see each other will be on Wednesday, February 3, in Reading.

• For Reading, tonight’s game kicks off a season-long seven game road trip, which will take the Royals to Estero, Florida for a three-game set with the after the completion of this weekend’s series in Manchester. The Royals will complete the roadie with the first trip ever to Norfolk, Virginia, to face the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, December 16.

• Eleven of the thirteen games that the Royals will play in the month of December will be on the road. The only two games on home ice this month will be on December 18 and 19 against the .

• Reading comes into tonight’s game riding a three game road losing streak, dating to a 6-1 loss to the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, on November 13. The last win on the road for Reading came forty-two days ago—on October 23 in Elmira (5-1).

• The Royals are coming off a 3-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers on Sunday (November 29) at Santander Arena in Reading. That victory snapped a season-long five game winless streak (0-4-0-1).

• In four games played last week, Reading generated only 9 total goals, which included getting shutout for the first time this season last Wednesday (November 25) in Wheeling (0-1). Despite that relative paucity of scoring, Reading is still tied for second in goals per game average (3.39).

• Despite entering Sunday’s game a collective minus-9 (-9) with respect to the opposition in the second period (16gf – 25 ga), Reading scored all three of the team’s goals in that game in the second.

• Reading is a league-best plus-14 (+14) (23 gf – 9 ga) in the third period.

• In Sunday’s victory, the Nailers generated a season-high 44 shots—which included twenty-one third period shots against the Royals. Despite that outpouring of shots against, the Royals, who have held the opposition to twenty-five shots or less eleven times (6-5-0-0), are still fourth in the league with respect to shots allowed (25.56).

• Reading’s power play has scored at least one in six of the last eight games played (7-33) (21.2%).

• So far this season, the Royals’ penalty killers have been perfect on the road, killing all eighteen chances the opposition has had this season on their home ice.

• Mike Pereira, who leads the Royals with nineteen points (9g-10a), is riding a three game goal scoring streak. He has six goals in his last ten games—and has had at least one point in nine of those ten games. He is currently tied for eleventh in the ECHL scoring race.

• Justin Crandall is fourth in rookie scoring (8g-10a=18pts).

• Defenseman Adam Comrie had at least one point in nine of the twelve games Reading played in November (4g- 8a=12pts). Comrie leads all defensemen in the league with eight goals and is second amongst d-men in the league with seventeen points (8g-9a=17pts).

• Robbie Czarnik is riding a three game point streak (1g-2a). He leads the Royals with sixty-four shots on goal.

• Defenseman Kevin Young has six points (1g-5a) in his last seven games. His six power play assists leads Reading.

• Matt Hatch scored his first pro game winner in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Wheeling. Hatch generated nine shots in that game, which tied the team-season high.

• Yannick Tifu’s unassisted goal on Sunday (which gave Reading a 2-1 lead) was sixty-ninth career goal with the team (third most) in his 195 th game with the team.

• Derek Mathers engaged in his sixth fight of the year in his sixth game with the team on Sunday when he took on Patrick McGrath for the fourth time. Mathers also generated a personal season high five shots on goal in that game.

• Goaltender Connor Knapp made a team-season high 42 saves in Sunday’s win. That was Knapp’s twenty-ninth career win as a Royal.
