Curbside Recycling Guidelines What can I place in my recycle bin? Items that CANNOT be placed in recycle bins include: Generally speaking, bins are for paper and packaging Waxed, plasticized or food contaminated paper, materials. More specifically, the following items can be cardboard, cups or plastic plates (i.e. pizza boxes) recycled: Soiled tissues, napkins and paper towels Paper Fiber Materials Loose shredded paper Flattened corrugated cardboard and paperboard (i.e. Heavily dyed or coloured construction paper cereal boxes, tissue boxes, etc) Styrofoam or other foam packing materials Newspapers, flyers Household garbage Magazines, catalogues, paperback books, hardcover Organic material (i.e. grass clippings, food scraps, books with covers and spine removed, telephone leaves) books Hazardous or regulated waste Letter quality paper Hazardous chemical containers (i.e. motor oil Brown paper bags, tissue roll cores, gift and containers) packaging paper, paper egg cartons Auto parts or batteries Envelopes with and without windows Any scrap metal other than household tin and Copier paper, computer printouts, NCR (no carbon aluminum cans required) paper Any type of fuel container Shredded paper placed in clear plastic bag Wire or plastic clothes hangers Containers - MUST BE RINSED CLEAN & FREE OF FOOD Plastic toys or Tupperware OR OTHER CONTAMINANTS Plastic pipe Aluminum soft drink and beer cans Outdoor lawn furniture Household tin cans Items other than those listed as accepted materials Milk cartons and jugs (caps removed) Juice cartons, boxes and tetra-pak containers General Guidelines Plastic soft drink and water bottles Do not bag recyclables (other than plastic bags and Place plastic grocery bags inside another bag and shredded paper as indicated).
