2015 Parent Info Sheet-1 Heartland Summer League Information Practices: o Practices are very important. Please remind your child to listen and pay attention. o The focus of the first few weeks of practice will be on technique and instruction. o Please remember that your child is on a swim team and not taking swim lessons. The coaches instruct from the pool deck, not in the water. o Your child will learn all four competitive strokes, legal turns, starts, and various other techniques. We will stress the basics first and then move on to swimming faster. Parents, please let the coaches do their job. Swimmers get confused if they have too many people coaching them. Equipment: o Heartland will provide a team cap and T-shirt for each swimmer before the first meet. Each team will have a designated team suit. o The suit can be purchased from Paradowski’s Swim and Sport, 7962 Convoy Ct., just off of Highway 52 and Convoy Street, or at El Cajon High School, 1035 E. Madison Ave, El Cajon on Saturday, June 20, 9:00 a.m. – Noon o Girls who have long hair should either wear their hair tied back securely or wear a cap. o Boys and girls will wear their team cap and suits in the meets so the coaches can easily identify the swimmers on their team. o Remember sunscreen and towels for both meets and practices. o Comfortable goggles are a MUST! Vacations: o The coaches must know when a swimmer is going to miss a MEET. Please let your coach know in advance- the more advance notice you can give the better. o Missing a meet will not be a problem as long as you let the coach know not to schedule you in any events. This is the single most critical item you can do to make the meets run smoothly. Meets: o See the back of this sheet for full meet information o Each team will be assigned to be a “Home Team” for one or two of the meets. o The Home team provides the volunteers at the meet- ribbon writers, timers, starter, etc. o Participation in the meets helps your child see his/her own improvement and each swimmer is encouraged to keep track of his/her own times. o You may want to bring a light snack and water to the meets. o Please remember to pick up your trash and NO GLASS CONTAINERS are allowed Team Photos: o Please fill out your picture order forms BEFORE you arrive for pictures o Please include full payment - check, money order, cash (exact amount) and/or card- orders without payment will not be processed. If have more than one child please make separate payments to avoid your order being wrong or incomplete. o It is our goal to do a consistent pose with everyone - we will do our best to encourage your child to smile and ensure a positive picture taking experience. There are specific reasons why we choose the poses we do. o If you would like to order more after you receive your pictures then just visit us online at eyeforlovephoto.com and email us what you would like to reorder. All meets start at 8:15 am and run until approximately 11 am • In dual/tri meets a swimmer may be entered in up to 2 relays and 3 individual events • The meets need plenty of volunteers. Smaller teams may need help hosting. July 31 and August 1 - Championship Meet for ALL teams - Granite Hills High School Aquatic Center • Friday, July 31st. Check in opens at 3:00 pm. Meet starts at 5:00 pm • First warm up 3:30-4:00: La Mesa 1&2, Montgomery, Grossmont 1 am and Santana • Second warm up 4:00-4:30: Grossmont 2 pm, West Hills, Helix, Monte Vista and Steele Canyon • Saturday, August 1. Check in opens at 7 am. Meet starts at 9:00 am • First warm up 7:30-8:00: Grossmont 2 pm, West Hills, Helix, Monte Vista and Steele Canyon • Second warm up 8:00-8:30: La Mesa 1&2, Montgomery, Grossmont 1 am and Santana • Coaches will enter swimmers in up to 2 individual events and 2 relays. • There will be a meet announcer who will announce the events. Please pay attention. Swimmers will report to the staging area before their event. Make sure your swimmer gets to the staging area in plenty of time before the event. Only swimmers are allowed in the staging area. • There will be multiple heats for each event. For heat winners, a ribbon will be awarded. • For swimmers who place 1st-3rd overall for the event, medals will be awarded. • For swimmers who place 4th-8th overall for the event, ribbons will be awarded. • There will be a snack bar (breakfast burritos, snacks, drinks, etc.) • T-Shirts for the championship meet will be available for purchase. SUMMARY: Would enact, until January 1, 2028, the Athletic Training Practice Act for the purpose of licensing persons engaged in the profession of Athletic Trainer. Specifically, this bill: 1) Establishes, until January 1, 2028, the Athletic Training Practice Act and the 7 member California Board of Athletic Training within the Department of Consumer Affairs, comprised of: a) three licensed athletic trainers appointed by the Governor; b) three public members, one each appointed by the Governor, Senate Committee on Rules and Speaker of the Assembly, and; c) one physician and surgeon licensed by the Medical Board of California (MBC) or one osteopathic physician and surgeon licensed by the Osteopathic Medical Board of California (OMBC) appointed by the Governor. 2) Requires the Board to adopt, repeal, and amend regulations as may be necessary and authorizes the Board, prior to adopting regulations, to consult the professional standards issued by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC), the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), or any other nationally recognized professional athletic training organization. 3) Specifies that the Board shall give protection of the public the highest priority and whenever the protection of the public is inconsistent with other interests sought to be promoted, the protection of the public shall be paramount. 4) States that except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the board shall issue an athletic training license to an applicant who meets all of the following requirements: a) At the time of application, the applicant is over 18 years of age, is not addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance, and has not committed acts or crimes constituting grounds for denial of a license under Section 480.
