Message from the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts: Hello and welcome to the City of Bloomington’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts department’s Summer 2021 activity guide! If you are new to the area feel free to go online to BloomingtonParks.org and start your discovery of the entire parks system. If you have any questions feel free to contact our main office at (309) 434-2260. We are programming a fun and safe summer full of many activities, day camps, classes and more! With O’Neil Pool under construction, we will only be operating Holiday Pool for our 2021 Summer Season. Please note that Holiday Pool will be taking several new, COVID-related precautions. This summer we have extended our open swims hours and will be offering 1hr and 30min Open Swim Time Blocks throughout the week. Something new for 2021 is that everyone visiting Holiday Pool this year must register in advance for an Open Swim Time Block even those in the household under the age of 2. Find out all the details and begin your registration process at BloomingtonParks.org. Spend an afternoon at Miller Park Zoo taking in all the exhibits, while your in Miller Park try out the mini golf course or paddleboats. Lunchtime concerts are also back at Wither’s Park this summer as well as Thursday night Franklin Park Concerts with the Community Concert Band. If you have ever wanted to discover the sport of golf check out Highland Park, Prairie Vista or The Den at Fox Creek golf courses, and sign up for lessons. In these unprecedented times we may have to adjust schedules or classes, feel free to follow our social media pages for updates on our programs. Have a great summer!
