REGISTER FOR AUDITIONS: [email protected] www.nqomt.com.au Production Details Information Night Sunday 1st November two sessions at 6.00pm and 7.00pm at NQOMT Hall, Gill Park, Pimlico Come and chat to the production team, find out how you can be involved, ask questions, book an audition. Please note that bookings for a place at the information session is vital. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will be restricting the number of people in the hall so without a booking you may not gain entry. Book a place with the production manager – [email protected] Auditions Saturday 14th November 2020 - Vocal auditions Sunday 15th November 2020 – 1pm to 5pm Dance auditions Monday 16th November after 7pm - Call backs All held at NQOMT Hall, Gill Park, Pimlico Performances Wednesday 17th March 2021 – Saturday 27th March 2021 Civic Theatre, Boundary Street, Townsville Rehearsals All Sundays (1-6pm) – All cast All Mondays (7.00-10pm) – All cast All Wednesdays (7.00-10pm) – All cast Fridays (7.00-10pm) – These rehearsals will take place closer to the show dates and as per the Director’s request in consultation with required cast members. Rehearsals will start January 2021, male leads start on the 29th November 2020. If you are successful in receiving a position in the cast of Jersey Boys, you will be expected to be available for rehearsals, tech runs and performances based on the Jersey Boys schedule. Please list any conflicts with these dates on your audition form. Other dates may be included in the schedule from time to time in consultation with cast. COVID-19 NQOMT have in place a COVID-19 plan which will be available for all members. Please note that due to the restrictions booking for the information session and auditions are essential. If you arrive early you will be required to remain outside the hall until you are allowed entry. Everyone MUST use the hand sanitiser upon entry and must sign the register. If you are unwell and are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, please get in touch with the production team and do NOT attend any information session or audition at the hall. Date: 19 & 20 September 2020 Philo will take all precautionary steps to minimise the spread of COVID-19, including observing social distancing practices during auditions. If you are unable to audition due to self-isolation, please contact [email protected] and we will discuss alternate arrangements. If the situation changes, Philo will make the necessary decisions and announcements. Auditions will be held in groups of up to 8-10 people. Your audition will take place in 2 parts. The first section will involve your group learning a small prepared choreographed routine. Please wear something comfortable that you can move in. This is to be followed by you singing your selected song for the panel. The panel will evaluate your song selection on what we hear. We know what we are looking for, so don’t be concerned if you are not required to sing an entire song. It is important to keep in mind however that the distinguishing characteristic of musical theatre singing is the variability of tonal resonance within any given song. A predominantly soprano song might suddenly launch into a belt moment. A chest dominant ballad may release into a tender soprano. Story always pre-empts musical choices. “Just You Wait” from My Fair Lady is part of the soprano canon but we would be disappointed if Eliza could not tell Henry Higgins what she really felt. In order to make things easier for beginning students, it’s a good idea to find repertoire with targeted range and consistent quality as students develop skill in coordinating registration.     The Rise and Fall of The NEW Four Seasons 1966 to 1977—Chapter 1:Bob Gaudio Takes Control “It was 1966. The radio as always, was on and a new rock hit version of “I´ve Got You Under My Skin” was playing. This was the first time I took notice of “The Four Sea- sons”. I lived in Bristol, Rhode Island , a million miles away from anything like what I was hearing that day, yet I thought to myself: “One day I would love to be a member of that group!”.......................” The words of John Paiva from his unpublished biography capture a moment when the change in the Four Seasons and their ultimate destiny would be set. John did eventually become a Four Season and was part of the line-up that would give the group their big- gest ever world-wide hit almost 10 years later. Back in 1966 although ‘Skin’ had a big impact as a hit (#9 on Billboard and Cashbox) it was a milestone track in many ways. In fact the song can be seen as a big test of Bob Gaudio’s musical genius…and by mid 1966 it was desperately needed. The group’s tra- ditional sound was in danger of losing it’s place in the record buying public’s hearts as competing styles and sounds took over. How could the falsetto sound of the past 4 years survive? Looking back we need to trace the previous 2 years to see how quickly things were changing.
