Domestic Carcass Price Statistics DOMESTIC CARCASS PRICE STATISTICS SOUTH AFRICAN PORK INDUSTRY REPORT March 2021 - Week 10 In this report The Average Purchasing Price (excl. sows) reached R29.36/kg (in nominal terms) during Week 10 of 2021, down 0.6% from Week 9. The SAFEX Yellow Maize (R/kg) reached R3 400/ton this week, causing the Purchasing Price to SAFEX Yellow Maize ratio to reach a level of 8.6. Purchase Prices are the chilled carcass mass, including the fifth quarter as paid to feedlots or farmers. The Carcass Purchase Price excludes Value Added Tax (VAT), transportation and commission. Weighted Average Abattoir Purchase Price takes the number (units) and average weights of the animals into consideration. Nominal Carcass Prices = Abattoir Purchasing Prices that is not adjusted for inflation. Consumer Price Index (CPI) indicate the percentage change in prices levels compared to a base year (i.e. Dec 2016=100) i.e. inflation. Real Carcass Price = Nominal Carcass Price / Consumer Price Index Profitability Price to Yellow Maize Ratio = Average Abattoir Purchasing Price (R/kg) / SAFEX Yellow Maize Price (R/kg). Due to feed being such a significant cost component, the higher the SAFEX Yellow Maize Price in relation to the Purchasing Price, the lower the Profitability Ratio, indicating lower profitability. The opposite holds true for a decrease in the SAFEX Yellow Maize Price. International prices are based on various weighted average price calculations per classification and/or class, market and country and serves as an indication of international prices converted into a Rand/kg price. Denmark's price quotations are weighted average per warm kg of slaughtered (settlement) weight which is converted into cold slaughtered weight, excluding edible offal.

    DIRECTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT/EAST RAND 1. Upon exiting the airport, keep to the right, following the signs for the R24/Johannesburg. This road joins the highway. 2. Continue straight along the R24 (N3)/Johannesburg. 3. Approx. 9 km after leaving the airport, move to the centre right lane. 4. You will merge with the N3 highway. Follow the signs for the N3 / N1 / Pretoria. Take the fork to the right. 5. Immediately after this fork, turn left onto the interchange and continue following the N3 / N1 / Pretoria signs. 6. Proceed past all the Sandton and Randburg off-ramps. From here follow points 2 to 11: From Johannesburg and Gauteng. FROM JOHANNESBURG AND GAUTENG: 1. Head West along N1 (concrete ring highway) just North of Johannesburg. 2. Exit from N1 at 14th Avenue off-ramp. 3. Turn right under highway, then right again at the second set of traffic lights. You are now on the M47 to Krugersdorp / Tarlton (you will pass Hillfox Value Centre). 4. Proceed along the M47 through fifteen sets of traffic lights.
