Zwei Tage nachdem „Since I Saw You Last“ (21.02.2014) in Deutschlands Plattenläden steht, bringt BB RADIO den smarten Briten exklusiv „Live On Stage“ - in die BB RADIO-Funkhaus-Garage! Hits wie „Back for Good“, „Patience“ oder „Never Forget“ stammen aus seiner Feder. A SCATTERED, SMOTHERED & COVERED CHRISTMAS A Waffle House Christmas Musical written by Kaine Riggan (It is Christmas Eve at a Waffle House just off Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro, TN, just 20 miles outside of Nashville. As the lights come up, wee see one gentleman sitting in a booth drinking coffee and having a bowl of chili. A quirky little waitress names Rita enters, obviously in a good mood. She is somewhere between plain and attractive and somewhere between thirty-five and fifty-five, although it is somewhat difficult to judge where in either category she clocks in. She pours out the old coffee (regular) and starts a new pot. She picks up a second pot (decaf) and smells it and decides to keep it. Suddenly, she notices the audience for the first time.) RITA Well shoot fire! If I’d known all ya’ll were gonna be here tonight, I’d a spent more time on this hair. (She quickly adjusts her hairdo) What do you think Harold? Is that better or should I just wear my bad hair day bonnet? (referring to her Waffle House paper hat) (HAROLD mumbles a grouchy, unintelligible response) Oh, chip up, Harold. It’s Christmas Eve! Don’t you just love Christmas Eve? (HAROLD starts to mumble again but she talks right over his response) Awe, there’s just something about this place on Christmas Eve. It’s magical… like there’s something special in the air. HAROLD (acknowledging himself) Sorry! RITA That is not exactly what I had in mind (shouting towards the kitchen) Bert, get in here and change this chili out.

Air date 5 Jun 2012 Episode 8 – Cyberpunks #1 Jacob Applebaum is a staff research scientist at the University of Washington, and a developer and advocate for the Tor Project, which is an online anonymity system for everyday people to fight against surveillance and against internet censorship. Jacob believes that everybody has the right to read, without restriction, and the right to speak freely, with no exception. In 2010, when Julian Assange couldn’t deliver a talk in New York, Jacob gave the talk instead. Since then, he has been harrassed by the U.S. government: interrogated at airports, subjected to invasive pat-downs while being threatened with prison rape by law enforcement officials, had his equipment confiscated and his online services subject to secret subpoena. Jacob is uncowed by these measures, and remains an outspoken advocate of freedom of expression, and a vocal supporter of WikiLeaks. Andy Mueller-Maguhn is a long time member of the Chaos Computer Club in Germany, and a former spokesman. He is a specialist on surveillance, working in a journalistic capacity on the surveillance industry with his project wiki, buggedplanet.info. Andy works in cryptographic communications, and runs a company called Cryptophone, which markets secure voice communication devices to commercial clients. • 2 to Be Somebody: Ambition and the Desire to Be Different
2 To Be Somebody: Ambition and the Desire to Be Different The context for difference This chapter aims to identify some of the bands that enjoyed chart success during the late 1970s and ’80s and identify their artistic traits by means of conversations with band members and those close to the bands. This chapter does not claim to be a definitive account or an inclusive list of innovative bands but merely a viewpoint from some of the individuals who were present at the time and involved in music, creativity and youth culture. Some of these individuals were in the eye of the storm while others were more on the periphery. However, common themes emerge and testify to the Scouse resilience identified in the previous chapter. Also, identifying objective truth is a difficult task, as one band member will often have a view of his band’s history that conflicts with that of other members of the same band. As such, it is acknowledged that this chapter presents only selective viewpoints. Trying something new: In what ways were the Liverpool bands creative and different? ‘Liverpool has always made me brave, choice-wise. It was never a city that criticized anyone for taking a chance.’ David Morrissey1 In terms of creativity, the theory underpinning this book which was stated in Chapter 1 is that successful Liverpool bands in the 1980s were different from each other and did not attempt to follow the latest local or national pop music trends. None of the bands interviewed falls into the categories of punk, disco or New Romantic, which were popular trends at the time.

Alongside your valuable insights and academic expertise, you were also supportive and understanding of a range of personal milestones which took place during the project. I would also like to extend my thanks to other members of the School of Music faculty who offered valuable insight during my research: Dr Kenneth Gloag; Dr Amanda Villepastour; and Prof. David Wyn Jones. My completion of this project would have been impossible without the support of my parents: Denise Arkell and John O’Connell. Without your understanding and backing it would have taken another five years to finish (and nobody wanted that). I would also like to thank my daughter Cecilia for her input during the final twelve months of the project. I look forward to making up for the periods of time we were apart while you allowed me to complete this work. Finally, I would like to thank my wife: Anne-Marie. You were with me every step of the way and remained understanding, supportive and caring throughout. We have been through a lot together during the time it took to complete this thesis, and I am looking forward to many years of looking back and laughing about it all. i Joseph O’Connell Contents Table of Contents Introduction 4 I. • Senate Armed Services Committee Testimony Of
SENATE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE TESTIMONY OF ADMIRAL JAMES G. STAVRIDIS, UNITED STATES NAVY COMMANDER, UNITED STATES EUROPEAN COMMAND BEFORE THE 112TH CONGRESS MARCH 1, 2012 INTRODUCTION Mr. Chairman, Ranking Member, Distinguished Members of the Committee: Thank you for the opportunity to appear before you today. For nearly three years now, I’ve had the privilege to command the exceptional men and women of the United States European Command and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Allied Command Operations. As you know, it has been a busy year for these commands, for the NATO Alliance, and for our international and interagency partners who are such a vital part of our mission, our many initiatives, and our team. Working together, we have accomplished some important objectives since I saw you last: saving tens of thousands of lives from a despotic and unstable regime in Libya; supporting continued progress and transition in Afghanistan; maintaining a safe environment in the Balkans; sustaining vital relationships with our key allies and emerging partners in the region; and developing the necessary capabilities to meet the rising—and, in many cases, different—security challenges of the 21st century. I am happy to report that we continue to make sound and efficient progress, in concert with our allies and partners, toward ensuring continued security and stability across our theater and, in so doing, are providing for the forward defense of the United States. But before reporting our progress and achievements over the past year, I want to take a moment to examine a fundamental question on many minds here in Washington and abroad: How does the U.S.

Mother’s Encouragement Group October 10, 2013 Plant Them and Let Them Grow #1 Girls, I’ve missed you! I feel as though I’ve been away a LONG time--probably because I have! I have experienced so many things, both wonderful and hard, all of them exhausting; I have learned a number of things and had many things impressed on my mind since I saw you last and I am determined that, like it or not, you shall be the beneficiaries of what I have learned. So get ready! If we are in the middle of spiritual warfare--and we are--then you girls are “in the trenches,” so to speak, and everything you do and say every single day with your children matters. You are training little soldiers and it is serious work. I do not want to overwhelm you but I do want to impress upon you that what you are doing with and for your children every day is not only observed by Heaven (and other spiritual beings) but has eternal significance. Are our children going to be ready, when they are adults, to stand for Christ, to defend the honor of His name in a world that increasingly despises it? Will they be able and motivated to keep themselves from worldly pursuits? What you do for them now will either prepare them for these things or not so get ready for some serious discussion! Not forgetting our motto from last year: “Love them into Heaven,” I decided to entitle this year’s considerations, “Plant them and let them grow.” It may not seem an appropriate title for the introduction I just gave you but bear with me; I think you will see what I mean by it.
