Luleå features at the top of the list of Swedish municipalities whose residents are satisfied with the range of culture they offer. 2007 saw construction of Kulturens hus, which hosts music events, the performing arts, art and literature. Luleå is also home to a number of drama and dance associations, an award winning school of culture, 20 or so live music stages and three large festivals. Luleå-based photographer Karl-William Sandström has documented one of them.

ARCTIC GAME LAB The Arctic Game Lab organisation has been supporting and nurturing the gaming industry in Norrbotten and Västerbotten since 2014. Among other things, it supports training, experience exchange and those who want to, or already have created a gaming project or company. The organisation also provides meeting places and events, like its own Arctic Game Jam. Currently based in Luleå, Boden, Piteå, Skellefteå and Umeå, Arctic Game Lab also works closely with Luleå University of Technology. Since its launch, 14 gaming startups have been founded.

In the period before securing my black belt, I was doing five to six sessions a week. Besides this I’ve always run, preferably on rough terrain. Best thing about the sport: Has to be the variation. There’s always something new you can improve on. Achievements: Part of the Swedish team in the 2017 Functional Fitness World Championships in the USA. Took 65th place in Europe in the 2017 Crossfit Open. Came second in two major Swedish events: MK Open 2017 and Roslagen Open 2016.
