Re: Approval of 2019-2023 Anishinabek Police Service Tripartite Agreement

The Anishinabek Police Council and Police Governing Authority have approved the signing of the new tripartite agreement for the period 2019-2023. Fort William First Nation Our leadership is well aware that the funding model under the First Nation Garden River First Policing Program is constructive in nature in that it does not provide for equal Nation treatment for our communities.

For this reason, we have agreed to sign the agreement under duress as it does not Ginoogaming First Nation meet adequacy or equity standards for pay, pension, benefits and capital planning. Kettle & Stonypoint First Nation The lack of an essential services designation for First Nation police services has served as a barrier to equal treatment with respect to a proper allocation of

human resources, support for specialized projects and adequate policing First Nation facilities.

Nipissing First Nation While the limitations of the funding model will allow us to continue to meet the

minimum standards, we appreciate your patience as we continue to work on developing a political strategy that addresses the gaps in funding for all of our Pic Mobert First Nation communities.
