This new species is characterized by its obesity; high spire; smooth, glossy surface; and by a deeper water habitat of 30-35 m. This is the second species of the genus found off the Brazilian coast and the only one occurring in its bathymetric range. OCCUPATION, FUNCTIONALITY AND MANAGEMENT OF MEAT RESOURCES. LUA VALENZUELA S'Illot des Porros is an archaeological necropolis located on an islet on the north-east of Majorca, distant, only 25 meters from the island coast. The better known structures date from 4th‐3rd c. BC, and they consist of three collective burial chambers, although there are some funerary remains which belong to the 6th • 5th c. BC, at the beginning of the second Iron Age in Majorca (Post‐talaiotic or Balearic period). Prior its use as a necropolis, several unidentified structures containing abundant faunal remains (NSIP=5260) were excavated. These structures date from the middle and final Bronze Age or Naviform period (ca. 1600/900‐850 BC). The faunal remains were associated with a special kind of pottery ‐tonels1-, some of them decorated, a particularly unusual for this period. This work will present the first results obtained in the PhD "The Bronze Age in Mallorca. A perspective from zooarchaeology". It will discuss certain aspects of the landscape and environment, the species present at the site, and the deficiency of remains of marine origin for human consumption in this and other contexts of prehistoric Majorca. 1 They are thought to be used for storing food and for exchange. All females of the five species exhibited the characteristic development of male sex organs (penis and/or vas deferens). In Menzel Jemil, H. trunculus and C. mediterraneus exhibit similar imposex levels and were most affected (VDS reading 3-4). The development of a bud penis or a vas deferens sequence behind the right ocular tentacle was reported in Cyclope neritea and N. mutabilis (VDS 1). The concentration of tributyltin (TBT) was similar for the four species. The monobutyltin (MBT) was only detected in C. -

This process aims to achieve the Good Environmental Status (GES) through the elaborated 11 Ecological Objectives and their respective common indicators. Since 2008, Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention have adopted the EcAp and agreed on a roadmap for its implementation. First phases of the EcAp process led to the accomplishment of 5 steps of the scheduled 7-steps process such as: 1) Definition of an Ecological Vision for the Mediterranean; 2) Setting common Mediterranean strategic goals; 3) Identification of an important ecosystem properties and assessment of ecological status and pressures; 4) Development of a set of ecological objectives corresponding to the Vision and strategic goals; and 5) Derivation of operational objectives with indicators and target levels. -

E-mail: [email protected] SUMMARY: The evolution of the molluscan biota in Sabaudia Lake (Italy, central Tyrrhenian Sea) in the last century is hereby traced on the basis of bibliography, museum type materials, and field samplings carried out from April 2009 to Sep- tember 2011. Biological assessments revealed clearly distinct phases, elucidating the definitive shift of this human-induced coastal lake from a freshwater to a marine-influenced lagoon ecosystem. Records of marine subfossil taxa suggest that previous accommodations to these environmental features have already occurred in the past, in agreement with historical evidence. Faunal and ecological insights are offered for its current malacofauna, and special emphasis is given to alien spe- cies. Twenty-eight species are recorded, of which eleven are described as new; Nassarius brebioni nov. sp., Nassarius landreauensis nov. sp., Nassarius merlei nov. sp., Nassarius pacaudi nov. sp., Nassarius palumbis nov. sp., Nassarius columbinus nov. sp., Nassarius turpis nov. sp., Nassarius poteriensis nov. sp., Nassarius plainei nov. sp., Nassarius martae nov. sp., Nassarius gendryi nov. sp., five are left in open nomenclature. Two nassariid genera are recognised (Nassarius and Demoulia). The ‘Redonian’ assemblages and localities are grouped in four assemblages (Assemblages I – IV) corresponding to the four major stratigraphic groups of deposits recognised in the post mid-Miocene sequences of northwestern France. -

For this purpose, the material collected from the area between the years 2005 and 2009, within the framework of different projects, was investigated. The investigation of the material taken from various biotopes ranging at depths between 0 and 100 m resulted in identification of 286 mollusc species and 27542 specimens belonging to them. Among the encountered species, Vitreolina cf. perminima (Jeffreys, 1883) is new record for the Turkish molluscan fauna and 18 species are being new records for the Turkish Levantine coast. A checklist of Iskenderun mollusc fauna is given based on the present study and the studies carried out beforehand, and a total of 424 moluscan species are known to be distributed in Iskenderun Bay. In questo articolo, i risultati dell’analisi tecno-funzionale condotta su tali ornamenti vengono presentati e discussi in un ampio contesto regionale che coinvolge possibili reti di scambio, strategie di mobilità e connessioni tra l’arco Alpino orientale e le regioni dell’Adriatico settentrionale. Abstract - Exceptionally for the eastern Alpine region, this site of Riparo Biarzo (Julian Alps, Friuli) has yielded a rich ensemble of shell ornaments related to both Late Pleistocene (Epigravettian) and Early Holocene (Mesolithic) occupations. The results of the techno-functional analysis carried out on these ornaments are presented and discussed in a wider regional context, which entails exchange networks, mobility strategies and connectivity between the eastern Alpine and the north Adriatic regions.
