Francesca Pola and A European Creative Region

Electa The previous Quaderno published in this series — the Diary Man- Fondazione Piero Manzoni zoni wrote when he was still a young man — reveals the artist’s early inclination to travel. This third volume features Manzoni as a mature adult who forged friendships, relationships, collaborations and ex- change ties, building up an international network of artists. This book and video documentary is the result of research carried out by Francesca Pola — to whom our heartfelt thanks are due — who, in her turn, has travelled round Europe since 2006, often in the company of Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo, the series editor, with the aim of meeting artists, visiting archives, tracking down documents and col- lecting material in order to reconstruct the fascinating geography of the new concept of art that emerged during this period. This new book and the related video documentary continue the “voyage” of discovery and research into the events of the artist’s life. We would like to express our gratitude to those who have made it possible with their support, to Hauser & Wirth, which has success- fully collaborated with the Fondazione Piero Manzoni since 2017, to the publishing house Electa, which has included us in its splendid “Pesci Rossi” series, and to all those who have generously made in- formation and materials available.
