Turkey the Ancient Greek 10 Days 7 Nights : TURKEY THE ANCIENT GREEK DAY 1 KUALA LUMPUR – ISTANBUL • Meet & Greet with our representative at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for flight to Istanbul. DAY 2 ISTANBUL - BURSA (B/L/D) • Arriving at Istanbul International Airport & meet our guide for start city tour at Istanbul before departing to Bursa. • Start visit Topkapi Palace is the palace when we have the opportunity to see the Prophet's relics such as beards, teeth, robes and swords besides the remains of other prophets such as the sword of David, the Prophet Moses and Prophet Yusuf's turban. • Next visit to Ayasofya or Hagia Sophia was once a church during the Byzantine era but was converted into a mosque after Sultan Fatih Mehmed II managed to conquer the Constantinople Empire. • Depart to Bursa, the city that once became the first capital of the Ottoman Empire before Edirne and Istanbul. • Upon arrive, dinner and check in a hotel in Bursa. DAY 3 BURSA - KUSADASI (B/L/D) • Breakfast at the hotel & check out a hotel at Bursa. • This morning visit to Green Mosque, a magnificent mosque of its architecture and got the name from the tiles inside the green-blued mosque and the Green Mausoleum, the tomb of Sultan Mehmet I and his family members who built this mosque. • Next visit Ulu Cami, also known as the Grand Mosque of Bursa, which is the earliest landmark of Ottoman architecture and the largest mosque in Bursa with 20 domes and 2 towers. The mosque also exhibits the best Islamic calligraphy written on the walls, columns and plates by the greatest calligraphy writers of that time. • Next visit to Cumalikizik Village, is the earliest area of Ottoman placements. • Then, depart to Kusadasi, is a beach resort town on Turkey’s western and also a major cruise ship destination. • Dinner and check in a hotel in Kusadasi. DAY 4 KUSADASI - PAMUKKALE (B/L/D) • Breakfast at the hotel & check out a hotel at Kusadasi. • Visiting to Leather Factory Showroom and Fashion Show; whereby have a chance to know how leather product has be produced in Turkey and shopping the leather products in here. • Next, visit to Ephesus Ancient City; is located on a very fertile valley. Ephesus, once, the trade centre of the ancient world, a religious center of the early Christianity and today, Ephesus is an important tourism center in Turkey. The ancient city Ephesus is located in Selcuk, a small town 30km away from Kusadasi. • After lunch depart to Pamukkale; is a town in western Turkey known for the mineral- rich thermal waters flowing down white travertine terraces on a nearby hillside. • Upon arrival, proceed to the famous Cotton Castle with white terraced rooftop terrace terraces. Enjoy the warmth of this hot water by soaking the feet on the hot water terrace. • Get a chance to visit the Ancient City of Hierapolis, is the remains of the ancient city which existed before the Byzantine period, which can still be seen between Gates of Hell, Theater, Cleopatra's Pool and the Roman Bath. • Dinner at the local restaurant & Check in a hotel in Pamukkale. DAY 5 PAMUKKALE – KONYA – CAPPADOCIA (B/L/D) • Breakfast at the hotel & check out a hotel at Pamukkale. • Continue the journey to Konya which is famous for the dance of Whirling Derwish and the hikayat of Sufis Nasreddin Hoca. • Visit the Mevlana Museum which was once the Ottoman religious center and the study of Sufi members during the Seljuk Turks and Ottoman rulers. • Get to photostop at one of the earliest hotels for Sultanhani Carvansarai. • Continue the journey to Cappadocia. Dinner and check in hotel in Cappadocia. DAY 6 CAPPADOCIA (B/L/D) • Breakfast at the hotel. • Visited the early placement of Cappadocia in the old days of Cardak Underground City. • Tour in Cappadocia starts to see how to build Turkish carpets at the Carpet Factory and to Avanos Village to see the work of pottery and decorated with turquoise stones located on the edge of Kizilirmak (Red River). • After lunch at a local restaurant, taken to the Pigeon Valley and have the opportunity to see the landscape of the rock valley and the holes being carved on the rock as a dove house, Goreme Valley is a fascinating fairy chimneys valley at Goreme Cappadocia. • Next, visit to Pasabag Valley; the valley that contains some of the most striking fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and even triple rock caps. This style is unique even for Cappadocia and these fairy chimneys are named mushroom- shaped fairy chimneys. • Continue visits to Uchisar Castle or Uchisar Village where locals punched and carved rocks to make their home as film "The Flinstones". • Return to hotel and dinner. Overnight in Cappadocia. DAY 8 ANKARA - ISTANBUL (B/L/D) • Breakfast at the hotel & Check out a hotel in Ankara. • Proceed to Istanbul. • Upon arrival, tour to Hippodrome Square which was once a Byzantium era car racing track. • Then visiting Blue Mosque is a historic mosque in Istanbul. The mosque is known as the Blue Mosque because of the blue tiles surrounding the inner walls and the only mosque in Istanbul with 6 towers. • Continued shopping at Spice Bazaar and Grand Bazaar which has existed since 1455 and there are over 3000 shops selling a wide variety of items. • Dinner and check in a hotel in Istanbul. DAY 9 ISTANBUL – KUALA LUMPUR (B/L) • Breakfast at the hotel & Check out a hotel in Istanbul. • In the morning, explore the beauty of the city and the panorama between the 2 continents of Asia-Europe by going down the Bosphorus Channel using the Bosphorus Cruise.     Dendrochronologically Dated Ottoman Monuments Peter Ian Kuniholm 4 Dendrochronologically Dated Ottoman Monuments Peter Ian Kuniholm INTRODUCTION Dendrochronology or tree-ring dating has been carried out by the author in former Ottoman lands since 1973. The method is, at its sim- plest, to compare the alternately small and large annual growth-rings from trees from a given climate region-in this case as far west as Bosnia and as far east as Erzurum-and to match them so that a unique year-by-year growth profile may be developed. By means of this a precise date determination, accurate even to the year in which the wood was cut, is possible. See Kuniholm (1995) for a fuller discussion of the method; and then see Kuniholm and Striker (1983; 1987) and Kuniholm (1996) for earlier date-lists of Ottoman, post-Byzantine, and Byzantine buildings, including brief notices of dates for a dozen more dated Ottoman buildings, principally in Greece, and additional notices of sampled but not yet dated buildings which are not repeated here. What follows is a compilation, in reverse chronological order, of over fifty dated buildings or sites (more if one counts their constituent parts) from the nineteenth century back to the twelfth (Figure 4.1). Some are major monuments (imperial mosques, sarays, sifayes) clearly deserving of more comprehensive treatment than can be pro- vided here; others (tiirbes, mescits, obscure medreses, and private houses) are little-known, perhaps even unheard of except to special- ists; but all help to form part of the tree-ring sequence which begins with the rings of trees still standing in Turkish forests and extends in an unbroken chain to A.D.360 for oak, A.D.743 for pine, and A.D.1037 for juniper.

This time around we headed towards Turkey, a country steeped in history and culture. People often says if you are looking for an adventure or something different, go to Turkey where Roman and Ottoman culture (including artifacts and/or ruins) are retained at their best to show visitors. Hence, for that very reason my wife (Fadzilah) and I with my daughter (Syazana) visited that country on April 13-22, 2019. The photos given below explains it all. While in Turkey, we did not miss the chance to see tulip blooming at its best in Emirgan Tulip Gardens, Istanbul. For all intents and purposes, it was a dream came true for me.

The Sufi As The Axis Of The orld:W Representations Of Religious Authority In The Works Of Ismail Hakki Bursevi (1653-1725) Abstract The present study examines the ways in which Ismail Hakki Bursevi (1653-1725) d(re)defines and deploys Islamic discursive practices and institutions to assert his religious authority as the most influential Sufi master in the Celveti order after its founder. Through a literary analysis of Bursevi’s autobiographical notes and dedicatory treatises (tuhfe) to Ottoman officials, I examine how he uses the institutions of the Sufi master (shaykh), order (tarīqa), and the Celestial Axis (quṭb) to argue for his superior status vis-�-vis other members of the Ottoman religious and learned elite. Bursa için böylesine önemli mabedlerde yazıları bulunan İbrâhim Efendi’ye kaynaklarda hakkıyla yer verilmemiş olması, bu araştırmayı önemli kılmaktadır. Bu akale İbrâhim Efendi’nin hayatı ve eserleri hakkında bilgiler içermesinden başka, İbrâhim Efendi’ye ait olabileceği düşünülen eserleri de ihtiva etmektedir. İbrâhim Efendi’ye ait yazı kalıplarıyla desteklenen bu düşünceler neticesinde, İbrâhim Efendi’nin Bursa’ya hizmet etmiş ve eserleri vesilesiyle sanat 1 dünyasında imzasını bırakmış önemli bir hattat olduğu anlaşılmaktadır.     DOSSIER The time of the changes: the last decades of the Ottoman Empire Witnesses of the Time: A survey of clock rooms, clock towers and façade clocks in Istanbul in the Ottoman Era* Kaan ÜÇSU Istanbul Üniversitesi Measuring and communicating time has been an important activity for the Ottomans, both in the Classic Age and in the Age of Reforms. This article aims to examine timekeeping constructions such as clock rooms (hereafter muvakkithanes in plural), tower clocks and façade clocks in Istanbul, a cosmopolitan city and the seat of the Ottoman Court. It traces the emergence and diffusion of tower clocks and the coexistence of muvakkithanes and tower clocks in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. The account is based on unused archival documents, newly published studies as well as a foot expedition. Besides, it takes into account façade clocks embedded in public buildings that have been omitted in the existing works on this topic. By doing this, it attempts at giving a complete account of the time-indicating constructions of Istanbul. Time-indicating constructions have been subject to various studies for the last half century. In 1971, historian of medicine and Ottoman culture Süheyl Ünver (1898- 1986) presented a seminal paper at the ninth Atatürk Conference, on the role of clock rooms among the Ottoman Turks.1 Although its title seems to indicate that the paper addresses the muvakkithanes in general, it focuses on the muvakkithanes of Istanbul. Ünver lists an aggregate of 69 muvakkithanes, 38 of which had disappeared. He gives 43 information on their date of construction, donors, architecture and current situation.
