In this study, the occurrence and abundance of ground beetles were analysed according to habitat preference and dispersal ability. A total of 65 carabid species were found in the three green areas. Obviously, the high species richness of ground beetles in the greenery of the Lublin is determined by the mostly undeveloped floodplain of the river Bystrzyca. The species richness of carabids and their relative abundance decrease in the assemblage of green areas under the effect of isolation of green patches and fragmentation of the semi-natural landscape elements in the urban environment. Generalists and open-habitat species significantly prevailed in all green areas. The prevailing of riparian and forest species at floodplain sites of the river Bystrzyca demonstrated the existence of a connection of the carabid assemblage with landscape of river valley. The Saski Park and gully “Rury” are more influenced by urbanization (fragmentation, isolation of green patches) and recreation that is consistent with the significant prevalence of open-habitats species in the carabid beetle assemblage. Specimens previously recorded in Hungary as Eupithecia unedonata (Mabille, 1868) were misidentified, and refer to Eupithecia ochridata Schütze & Pinker, 1968. Therefore Eupithecia unedonata has to be removed from the fauna list of Hun‐ gary. Structure of genitalia and morphological characteristics of wings are illustrated by figures. Arranging the vehicles took a little longer than expected, but once sorted we were on our way, heading to Ponte Leccia. Here we had a coffee stop and Andrew bought some cheese, meat and bread. We then headed across the top of the island to l’Ile-Rousse, where we stopped at the farmer’s market to buy fruit and salad. We then pushed on to our lunch stop near Galeria. Here we saw a variety of birds, wall lizards and some endemic plants: Corsican Storksbill (Erodium corsicum) and Sea Lavender (Limonium corsicum). We then drove a few hundred yards to see if there was a way down to some wetland, but unfortunately there was not. We did hear Cetti’s Warbler and saw a pair of Long-tailed Tits. Our next stop was on the coastal road at one of the U bends at the head of one of the many valleys we had to negotiate. Here were even more endemic plants, though we stopped for the Wild Vine (Vitis riparia) and saw the Illyrian Sea Lily (Pancratium Illyricum).

Oestrus ovis is reported for the first time from Malta. An account is given of four cases of myiasis in Malta, one nasopharyngeal in a sheep host involving O. ovis, and three cutaneous in a human host and in domestic cats, the latter all involving Lucilia sericata. KEY WORDS. Malta, Myiasis, Oestrus ovis, Lucilia sericata. INTRODUCTION The term myiasis was first used by HOPE (1840) to refer to diseases of humans caused specifically by larvae of diptera. It has since then been defined as “the infestation of live vertebrate animals with dipterous larvae, which, at least for a certain period, feed on the host’s dead or living tissue, liquid body substances, or ingested food” (ZUMPT , 1965). Two classifications of myiasis have emerged. The first, an anatomical classification, was proposed by Bishopp (PATTON , 1922) and later modified by JAMES (1947). It is based on the anatomical site of the infestation of the host, and is still widely used as it is simple and practical. Among the listed species: the following 10 species found by different Authors at the beginning of the century need con- firmation: Aplasta ononaria Füssl., Scopula luridata Zell., Idaea litigiosaria Bsd., Idaea sodalia- ria H.-S., Idaea contiguaria Hb., Scotopteryx moeniata Scop., Colostygia olivata D. & S., Xanthorhoe biriviata Bkh., Perizoma albulata D. & S., Cepphis advenaria Hb., Gnophos persper- satus Tr., Gnophos mucidarius Hb.; the following 16 species do not belong to the fauna of the above said regions either because synonymous of other species or because erroneusly determined: Scopula incanata L., Glossotrophia confinaria H.-S., Idaea serpentata Hfn., Idaea rusticata D. & S., Idaea sylvestraria Hb., Xanthorhoe munitata Hb., Xanthorhoe spadicearia D. & S., Xanthorhoe ferrugata Cl., Euphya unangulata Hw., Perizoma alchemillata L., Lithostege griseata D. & S., Lithostege farina- ta Prt., Gnopharmia stevenaria Bsd., Aspitates gilvaria D. & S., Hylaea squalidaria Costa, Arichanna melanaria L.
