The Museum of Philippine Biodiversity scale model was unveiled during the International Day of Biological Diversity celebration last 22 May 2017 at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center (NAPWC). The Museum once Activity Sub-activities Participants Partners constructed will feature the richness of Philippine biodiversity by highlighting six (6) Protected Areas representing the different and unique terrestrial and marine ecosystems in the country. Ugnayan

An art installation created by Luis “Junyee” Yee Jr. was also unveiled during the event. Titled “Ugnayan,” the artwork represents the 21 countries comprising the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC, and their unity and cooperation in pursuit for common goals in various fields. The artwork made use of big pieces of recycled hardwood pillars and metal to visualize the unity. First National Biodiversity Congress (FNBC)

The First National Biodiversity Congress with the theme “Upwelling of Lessons, Sustaining Community Benefits in the Conservation of Landscapes and Seascapes” was held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria on May 22-24, 2017. It was organized by the BMB in collaboration with the UNDP and other institutional partners. More than 500 participants from various regions around the country attended the Congress. The three-day event featured plenary and breakout sessions on five thematic areas, namely: Managing Protected Areas; Biodiversity- friendly enterprises; Landscapes and Seascapes; Biodiversity Financing and Social Topics like building an inclusive biodiversity community; and participation of indigenous peoples, women, youth and communities in conflict-affected areas.
