Choosing the right safety spectacles is not always easy, given the range of choice between different frames, eyepiece materials, lens types and options, and the need to suit all your employees’ needs – it can prove to be very complicated, but it can make a huge difference.

Above all, a good pair of safety spectacles must be customised and adapted to each of your employees’ needs: visual needs, wearing comfort and adequate protection from risks. They must also be adapted to the work environment, not only to provide protection, but to improve your employees’ vision and thus increase their safety and productivity.

Choosing suitable corrective lenses therefore ensures increased protection and ease of use for all your employees and better productivity of your staff. Our employees are experts in this area and will guide you step-by-step in choosing your eyewear.

A SIMPLE FOUR-STEP PURCHASE PROCESS 1. First of all, a Honeywell Safety Products’ expert will carry out a free safety audit at your business, during which your needs (selection of various frames, eyepiece types, accessories, aftersales services and pricing) and procedures are identified. Honeywell and your company both choose a local , who will work together with both parties.

These lenses not only correct sight, but offer a natural correct ametropias (a visual defect) such as short-sightedness, long- field of vision and maximum comfort. sightedness and . BIFOCAL LENSES These lenses combine two lenses in one: the upper part is for distance vision and the lower part for near vision. Currently, is usually corrected using progressive lenses, which are more aesthetically pleasing and more effective than bifocal lenses. PROGRESSIVE LENSES The lens’ power varies progressively from the upper part (for distance vision) to the lower part (for near vision) without the visual space being divided (clear vision at all distances). The look and performance of these lenses make them the most popular corrective lens choice for those with long-sightedness, as the eye gradually loses its ability to focus over time (around the age of 40). SUPERIOR PROGRESSIVE LENSES These progressive lenses are characterised by a reduction of lateral aberrations, a wider corridor of progression and a larger area for near vision. This means that the lenses are more comfortable to wear and provide a larger field of vision

INTERMEDIATE-DISTANCE LENSES Intermediate-distance lenses are mainly recommended to people who work regularly with a screen. Working with a screen is demanding on eyesight, as moving one’s gaze between the screen, documents and the keyboard and looking at the screen for long periods reduces the frequency of natural blinking and dries out the eyes. Intermediate- distance lenses optimise near and intermediate vision, reducing watery eyes, blurry vision, dryness, headaches, tingling and burning eyes. TINTS Tints can limit and control the amount of light entering the eye and therefore protect and improve vision. There are two classes of tint (0 and 1 - 10% and 15%) that are used depending on the brightness of the sun and the transmission of light. These tints play both a functional and aesthetic role. ANTI-GLARE This is a surface treatment that aims to reduce unwanted glare on the lens’ surface, which can impair vision. Anti-glare lenses offer clear vision, increased visual comfort and eliminate dazzling. They are mainly recommended for industrial sites where operators work under artificial light and also offer increased UV protection for outdoor use, particularly in the case of superior or tapered lenses. TAPERING AND PRE-CALIBRATION Large corrections (beyond -6/+6 or astigmatism higher than 4) require more advanced lenses or technical solutions to offer the same advantages of classic lenses. “Tapering” is involved in the creation of high-index lenses and “pre-calibration” is involved to the manufacture of made-to-measure lenses tailored to the frame/correction and measurements made by the optician. The aim of these two processes is to thin the lens, either for technical reasons to make it compatible with the frame, or for functional or aesthetic reasons to reduce its weight.
