Though there are 9 thousand British troops in the province, the situation is deteriorating every day and no one in the province believes the British have to the province to fight the Taliban. Following the deployment of British troops in Helmand, the Taliban slowly arrived there and until today have taken control of most parts of the province. In this regard, Musharaf pursued policies of cooperation with the Taliban which deteriorated security situation on both sides of the border. Nobody in Afghanistan believes that the British follows policies similar to those of Musharraf. If Britain find themselves in cooperation with the Taliban particularly with their second level and moderate commanders and does not show enthusiasm in supporting the army and police of Afghanistan in this troubled province how can the people of Afghanistan believe that they are there to fight the insurgents.

Given his assessment of the situation in Afghanistan, it appears that US political and military experts are trying to adapt the best strategy to encounter Taliban. This military commander has emphasized on the importance of keeping control on the villages freed from Taliban and adds that if the problem of employment is solved for the forces affiliated with Taliban 60 percent of problems in combating Taliban will be solved.
