Dear Sir, About Salasar Dham:- Salasar Balaji or Salasar Dham is a place of religious importance for the devotees of Lord Hanumana. It is located in the town of Salasar, on NH-65 near Sujangarh in Churu district, Rajasthan. It is located near the pilgrim centers of Rani Sati Temple and Khatushyamji. The temple of Balaji which is another name of Hanuman is situated in the middle of Salasar and attracts innumerable worshippers throughout the year especially on Chaitra Purnima and Ashvin Purnima. The temple of Salasar Balaji is now considered to be a Shakti Sthal (a place of power) and Swayambhu (self creation) by faith, belief, miracles and wish fulfillments of the devotees. The idol of Balaji here is different from all other idols of Lord Hanumana. Hanumana possess round face with moustache and beard making it the most unique idol among the other idols of Hanumana all over the world. Highlights of the Salasar Dham:- Some of the regular activities of the temple which is very touching as per devotees values and social beliefs. • Regular worships of the deity. • Performing Aarti on fixed time slots. • Feasting of Brahmins and other mendicants. • Recitation of Ramayana . • Recitation of Kirtan & Bhajans . • Arrangement for Savamanis. • Recitation of Sundar Kand on every Tuesday in union by the singers. • Arrangement of stay for the visitors. • Even Regular Visit of Celebrities on monthly basis like Navjyot Singh Siddhu, Lakhbir Singh Lakkha, Swami Avdheshanand Giri ji Maharaj, Sanjay Dutt, Nisha Kothari etc. While the worship of the deity is managed by the Brahmins priests from the Dadhich clan, the temple is managed and maintained by the trust Hanuman Sewa Samiti. They also look after the management of the fairs, social works, public and private facilities such as the maintenance of road, water supply, Charitable hospitals, in the village. Over the years, there have been many Dharamshalas and restaurants constructed here to stay and eat comfortably. Regi. A Ginthala-Jat farmer of village Asota found idols of Balaji Lord Hanumana covered with sand while ploughing his fields. This news of the appearance of Lord Balaji spread in the village Asota immediately. The Thakur of Asota also heard the news. Balaji ordered him in his dream to send the idol to Salasar in the Churu district. The idol was sent to Salasar and consecrated at the place known as Salasar Dham today . Why Important :- Normally Devotee start coming from 1st navratra itself and many of them stay there till Purnima (12 oct. to 27 oct. 2015). Salasar Dham is the only place where a devotee stays for such a long time. The basic need like food and shelter are free for devotees here. Key Factor:- 1. Almost 30 lac devotees participate in Salasar Balaji Mela. 2. 30% devotees come by foot from 400 KM. 3. Some organizers arrange bhandhara (food) and stay management for the devotees who come by foot from long distance area on the way of Salasar Dham. 4. Even organizers arrange Bhajan Sandhya & Bhajan Mandli program for devotees on the way with proper arrangement of light sound system, singers, stage show etc. 5. Salasar Temple area upto to 6 KM area is properly arranged by the Hanuman Seva Samiti with proper Barricades, Jig jag Route line, Dome covered areas, Stage over bridge for different 2 routes, with proper arrangement & supply of water, food, Prasad, fruits & medicine for devotees as the heavy crowd of devotees wait for long time for Darshan in the queue. Reason for so much crowd :- Compared to the Chaitra navaratras(Mar-Apr) the farmer is in a more relaxed state of mind as all his sowing & agricultural related work is done. Therefore numbers of farmer devotees visiting in this period Sharad navratra (winter) are maximum. Devotees Category :- In this salasar festival which is organized during winter Navaratras, Devotees from every class and state visit and stay here. Many of the people come to fulfill their wishes. They come walking from nearby areas and also from approx 400 KM. they come in groups with a worship flag handing there group. This group contains men and women of all ages (youth-old) with full religious enjoinment and excitement. Apart from the farmers the A+ & B+ category crowd is also present. Regi. Hence this festival is organized by well off people of the Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Chandigarh etc. Therefore A+, B+ devotees are very common here including women in large strength. Devotees Arrangements: - On the way of the devotees those who come by foot various stalls are arrange by local social workers. They provide them food, and bedding for rest along with basic requirement. Approx 30% devotees come by foot from 400 KM. Many devotees that come to through private conveyance also stay there for approx a week. They enjoy the Mela and do shopping. SHRI SUMEDHANAND SARSWATI: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) the names and details of fifty places in the country identified by the Government to be developed as tourist circuits from the tourism point of view; (b) the names and details of the places in the State of Rajasthan linked with the said tourist circuits; (c) whether the Government proposes to include Khatushyamji, Salasar Balaji, Lohargal and Harshnath Bhairav Temple located at Harsh mountain related to Hindu religion in the State of Rajasthan in any of the said tourist circuits; (d) if so, the time by which it is likely to be done; and (e) if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR TOURISM (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) (SHRI PRAHLAD SINGH PATEL) (a) to (e): Identification and development of tourism sites is primarily the responsibility of State Governments/Union Territories. However, the Ministry of Tourism under its scheme of Swadesh Darshan- Integrated Development of Theme-Based Tourist Circuits provides Central Financial Assistance to State Governments/Union Territories/Central Agencies for developing tourism infrastructure in the circuits, across the country, having tourist potential in a planned and prioritized manner. The projects under the scheme are identified for development in consultation with the State Governments/UT Administrations and are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier. When the armies of Pandavas and Kaurvas were arrayed in the battlefield of Kurukshetra, Arjun, the chief warrior of Pandavas upon the advice of Sri Krishna; meditated upon the Mother Goddess and sought Her bless- ings for victory. Festivals thus culminate in fairs. Some fairs and festivals are mythological and are based on ancient traditional stories of gods and goddesses while others commemorate the memories of some illustrious pers<?ns of distinguished bravery or. persons with super-human powers who are now reverenced and idealised and who are mentioned in the folk lore, heroic verses, where their exploits are celebrated and in devotional songs sung in their praise. Fairs and festivals have always. been important parts of our social fabric and culture. While the orthodox celebrates all or most of them the common man usually cares only for the important ones. In the pages that follow an attempt is made to present notes on some selected fairs and festivals which are particularly of local importance and are characteristically Rajasthani in their character and content. Some matter which forms the appendices to this book will be found interesting. Lt. Col. Tod's fascinating account of the festivals of Mewar will take the reader to some one hundred fifty years ago. Maha Shivratri is the night when He is said to have performed the Tandava Nritya or the dance of pri- mordial creation, preservation and destruction. The festival is observed for one day and one night only. Maha Shivratri is universally observed by all pious Hindus with fasting, singing of bhajans, recital of Sanskrit shlokas, offering of prayers, flowers, fruits and food that is specially prepared in honor of the deity and his divine consort, goddess Parvati. The Puranas contain many stories and legends describing the origin of this festival. According to one, during the samudra manthan, Religious Calendar a pot of poison emerged from the ocean. This terrified the Gods and demons as the poison was capable of destroying the entire world, and they ran to Shiva for help. To protect the world from Feb 3, Friday its evil effects, Shiva drank the deathly poison but held it in his throat instead of swallowing it.
