Die vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnte waren turbulent. Gegründet Anfang der 90er in der Grafschaft Suffolk trotzen The Darkness seit jeher allen Widrigkeiten und haben mit Kampfgeist und Überlebenswillen schon vor langer Zeit den Rock-n-Roll-Sieg errungen. Nun kündigen die Glam-Rock-Giganten ihr neues Studioalbum „MotorHeart“ für den 15. Oktober 2021 an, mit welchem sie im Frühjahr 2022 auf Deutschlandtour gehen. Die Briten haben jüngst bestätigt, dass sie im Februar nächsten Jahres fünf Konzerte hierzulande spielen werden. Es ist unumstritten: The Darkness sind ein Unikat. In ihrer Einzigartigkeit hat sich die Band um Justin Hawkins zu einer der beliebtesten und einflussreichsten britischen Rockformationen etabliert. Ihr Debüt „Permission To Land“ (2003) erklomm auf Anhieb die britischen Charts und erreichte Platin-Status. Die erste Singleauskopplung „I Believe In A Thing Called Love“ ließ den enormen Erfolg des Erstlingswerks damals im Vorfeld bereits erahnen. Der festen Ansicht nach, dass Rock n Roll laut sein muss, kümmerten sich The Darkness seit Beginn ihrer Karriere nicht um das, was die Welt musikalisch verlangte, sondern vielmehr darum, was eben diese ihrer Meinung nach brauchte: Schmetternden Gitarren-Rock und eine kreischende Stimme, welche der Band einen unantastbaren Wiedererkennungswert verleiht. Ihre wilden Live-Shows brachten in den frühen 2000ern eine fanatische Fangemeinde hervor. Ausgelassen und übermütig, in typischer Rock-Manier, feierten The Darkness zur selben Zeit die Hochphase ihrer Karriere. Nach einer zwischenzeitlichen Bandauflösung drei Jahre nach ihrem Debüt, feierten die Glam- Rocker im Jahr 2012 mit ihrem Comeback-Album „Hot Cakes“ die große Reunion. Auferstanden wie Phoenix aus der Asche sind sie seitdem wieder aktiv und veröffentlichten drei weitere Studioalben. Nun melden sich The Darkness mit neuem Album zurück, welches sie ihren Rock-n-Roll-Thron wieder besetzen lässt. „Motor Heart“ wird jetzt schon als ihr bestes Werk seit „Permission To Land“ angepriesen. Im Februar 2022 zieht es die Briten dann wieder auf die Bühne, wenn sie fünf Konzerte in München, Berlin, Hamburg, Köln und Frankfurt spielen. Präsentiert wird die Tour von Metal Hammer.
