who have all undertaken the MiDAS minibus or professional driving qualifications. As we expand our service this year we will also be using larger coaches on the most popular routes. These will be under contract from local providers who will have to demonstrate that they provide the same level of professional standards and safety.
We use dedicated drivers who work on the same route each day. These drivers get to know the pupils and are subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.
This year we are proposing to increase the size of our network in response to demand and changing travel habits. We continue to follow all government guidance for the safe operation of our services including measures to ensure that we are COVID secure; services may have to change in response to this guidance. Subject to demand we will run a full, enhanced service for the 2020-

Girls are welcome to cycle to school, with bicycle racks situated just behind the science block at the rear of the site. It is recommended that bikes are secured using a suitable lock.

Cars

Departure from school: 17:30

Girls may drive to and from school once written permission has been received from both their parents and Mrs Bird (Head of Sixth Form). Driving is only permitted once girls have obtained a full driving licence. Girls are not permitted to drive or park on the Bromley High School site; they should park considerately without causing inconvenience to local residents. Further details are available in the Sixth Form Drivers Policy, copies of which are available from Mrs Bird.

In response to parental requests, Bromley High School will continue to provide a late bus service from September 2020. Buses depart from the school at 17:30 serving the areas north of the school. Subject to demand, further buses can be provided to other areas.

Parents need to book their daughter on the service at least 6 hours in advance through the online booking system and the exact route will be calculated each day depending on demand. You will receive a confirmation email upon booking the late bus service, which will confirm that your daughter is able to travel.

Taxis

The school’s recommended taxi suppliers are Cannon Cars of Bromley and Bromley South Cars. Cannon Cars of Bromley can be contacted on 0208 777 8888. Bromley South Cars can be contacted on 0208 464 4441.

If you have any questions, or you need to change your booking, please get in touch with us via the Contact Us form online. Fares on the late bus service are the same as those on the other school bus services, and if you purchase a bus pass for the school bus service, your daughter can use the late bus service at no extra cost.

You are currently studying for GCSEs which are Level 1 or 2 qualifications, depending on what grades you achieve at the end of Year 11. Generally speaking: if you are forecast to achieve GCSEs at grades 1 - 4 then you can apply for Level 1 or 2 BTEC courses or an intermediate level apprenticeship. Once you have completed this you can progress to Level 3 courses. if you are forecast to achieve GCSEs at grades 4 or above then you can apply to study A Levels, Level 3 BTEC courses, or intermediate level or advanced level apprenticeships. The majority of dwellings in the area are Victorian with some 1940’s and 50’s flats and houses. On the whole houses tend to have fair sized gardens; however, where there are smaller dwellings and flatted developments there is a lack of available off-street parking. During the later part of the 20th century a significant number of Victorian villas were converted or replaced by modern blocks of flats or housing. Ten conservation areas have been established to help preserve and enhance the appearance of the area reflecting the historic character of the area.

    Greenwich Park

GREENWICH PARK CONSERVATION PLAN 2019-2029 GPR_DO_17.0 ‘Greenwich is unique - a place of pilgrimage, as increasing numbers of visitors obviously demonstrate, a place for inspiration, imagination and sheer pleasure. Majestic buildings, park, views, unseen meridian and a wealth of history form a unified whole of international importance. The maintenance and management of this great place requires sensitivity and constant care.’ ROYAL PARKS REVIEW OF GREEWNICH PARK 1995 CHAIRMAN’S FOREWORD Greenwich Park is England’s oldest enclosed public park, a Grade1 listed landscape that forms two thirds of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. The parks essential character is created by its dramatic topography juxtaposed with its grand formal landscape design. Its sense of place draws on the magnificent views of sky and river, the modern docklands panorama, the City of London and the remarkable Baroque architectural ensemble which surrounds the park and its established associations with time and space. Still in its 1433 boundaries, with an ancient deer herd and a wealth of natural and historic features Greenwich Park attracts 4.7 million visitors a year which is estimated to rise to 6 million by 2030. We recognise that its capacity as an internationally significant heritage site and a treasured local space is under threat from overuse, tree diseases and a range of infrastructural problems. I am delighted to introduce this Greenwich Park Conservation Plan, developed as part of the Greenwich Park Revealed Project. The plan has been written in a new format which we hope will reflect the importance that we place on creating robust and thoughtful plans.

Inside back cover EDITORIAL This issue has an educational aspect. Each year Reports to Assembly include reports from six schools - Caterham, Eltham College, Silcoates, Taunton, Walthamstow Hall, and Wentworth College (as it is now called). That these are not the sum total of Congregationalism's contribution to independent education is made clear in Alan Argent's article. Although links with the United Reformed Church are now slender (they might be described as pleasant but formal), origins cannot be wished away. In the past year Taunton and Wentworth College have produced attractive histories. The current General Secretary of the United Reformed Church is an Old Silcoatian; an investigative journalist noted, in the course of the last election, that the wives of Paddy Ashdown, the late Harold Wilson, and Neil Hamilton, were past pupils of Wentworth Milton Mount.
