Recalls that the EU is the main destination for tourism worldwide; stresses the need to facilitate the recovery of the sector in a sustainable manner; highlights the paramount role digitization will play in relaunching tourism, ensuring the sustainability of the industry in the long-run; urges the Commission to promote EU digital leadership in tourism through R&D, joint ventures and public private partnerships on issues such as crowd management, mobility and contactless services, and the valorisation of local SMEs involved in the tourism supply chain.
