IJ sl JI sl/en AI Luki (rod Allium) so zaradi težavnega določanja in poznega cvetenja v Sloveniji slabše raziskana skupina. Rhizirideum in subg. III Sladek P. Sc. Thesis (Academic Study Programmes) NO XVIII, 114 p., 4 tab., 72 fig., 4 ann., 74 ref. LA sl AL sl/en AB Genus Allium is a less well researched group in Slovenia due to its difficult taxonomy and late season flowering. For this revision we chose the 7 native rhizomatous Allium species: Allium angulosum, A. senescens, A. saxatile, A. ericetorum, A. kermesinum, A. suaveolens in A. schoenoprasum subsp. alpinum. I did the field work in vegetation seasons 2005 – 2009. I surveyed the state of populations on known localities (especially rare species), collected materal for herbarium LJU and created a living collection. With morphological analyses of 86 characters on 96 OTE (basic taxonomic unit) I compiled data for composing species descriptions and two determinating keys: one to the whole genus Allium and one to subg. Rhizirideum in subg. Schoenoprasum by vegetative characters. I also analysed all the respective taxons' altitude distribution and determined their respective flowering periods. Apparently most rhizomatous Allium species native to Slovenia are rare or endangered. We recommend inclusion on the Red List for the following species: A. suaveolens, A. kermesinum, A. saxatile. Although this year has thrown many obstacles our way, we feel that the “show must go on.” In response to the COVID-19 situation, this year will look a little different. For the safety of our members and our customers, this year will be an online pre-order only sale. Our mission stays the same: to support our community’s green spaces, and to educate our community in the areas of gardening, horticulture, conservation, and related topics. GCH members serve as volunteers, and our profits from the Bulb Mart are given back to WELCOME the community in support of our mission. In the last fifteen years, we have given back over $3.5 million in grants to the community! The Garden Club of Houston’s first Plant Sale was held in 1942, on the steps of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, with plants dug from members’ gardens. Plants propagated from our own members’ yards will be available again this year as well as plants and bulbs sourced from near and far that are unique, interesting, and well suited for area gardens.

In all, 789 plant specimens that consisted of 104 taxa belonging to 13 families and 30 genera were gathered from the investigation area. Of all the collected specimens, 19 taxa were new records for C6, C7, and C8, and 11 taxa were endemic to Turkey. Scilla mesopotamica Speta, which was first collected from Şanlıurfa-Halfeti in 1888 by Sintenis and was considered a missing species, was rediscovered after 116 years during this study. Colchicum crocifolium Boiss. was also determined as a new record for Turkey. According to floristic regions, Irano-Turanian elements ranked first among the specimens, accounting for 47.12%, followed by Mediterranean elements (25.00%) and Euro-Siberian elements (0.96%). Some of the identified species (26.92%) were widespread and of unknown phytogeographic origin. In addition, 86.54% of the collected taxa were determined to be monocotyledons and the remaining (13.46%) were dicotyledons. The families with the most taxa in the research area were Liliaceae (59) and Iridaceae (14).

Oreiprason) has been studied recently upon morphological and molecular data. New specimens collected from the European part of Turkey near the Istranca Mountains and identified as ‘A. saxa- tile’ proved to be a new species confirmed by sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and two plastid DNA regions (rpl32–trnL and trnL–trnF) and supported by morphological characters. Allium urusakiorum, a new species from the A. saxatile group, is described here through living and herbarium specimens. It is the only species of the sect. Oreiprason in the country and seems to be an endemic species of the Turkish flora. Characteristics of the species include morphological description, identification key, molecular dataset, and karyotype (2n = 16). Key words: Allium subgen. Received 29 June 2014; revised 21 January 2015; accepted for publication 25 January 2015 The taxonomic circumscription of Allium saxatile s.l. (Amaryllidaceae), widely distributed from Italy to China, has been controversial with the number of accepted species ranging from three to seven. The aims of this study include a morphological and molecular revision of the group, a thorough nomenclatural study of available names and the reconstruction of possible phylogenetic relationships in the A. saxatile group. We studied c. 2000 herbarium specimens and successfully sampled 86 accessions of the A. saxatile group and a few related species to reconstruct a molecular phylogenetic tree based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and two plastid DNA regions (rpl32–trnL and trnL–trnF). The monophyletic A. saxatile group consists of 15 geographical entities united in two geographi- cally justified clades. Two yellow-flowered species, A. obliquum and A. petraeum, were clearly nested in the A. saxatile clade in the ITS and plastid DNA analyses. The oldest names in the group, i.e.

  • Preliminary Study Viewing the Flora of the Upper Mureş Hydrographic
Kun Annamária Preliminary study viewing the fl ora of the Upper Mureş hydrographic basin Kun Annamária RO-540361 Târgu Mureş, str. Măgurei 7/14, Romania, [email protected] Abstract Th e Mureş is one of the most important rivers in the Tisa catchments area. Th e studied area’s surface is about 42 000 hectares and it lies on altitudes between 400-1470 m above sea level. Th is paper presents the taxons found until this moment in the area, comprising a list of taxons of 670 positions. Th e taxons are listed describing their life form, fl oristic element, ecological indexes and protection status. Th e analysis of the fl oristic elements shows that the area’s fl ora is char- acterized by the predominance of the Eurasian element. Th e Carpathian, Dacic, Balcanic and endemic species are about 3,15 %. Th e analysis of life forms shows a high percentage of hemicryptophytes, a fact, which is closely connected to the large surfaces of grasslands and the presence of the grass- layer in diff erent other habitats. Analyzing the ecological indexes, we can see that most of the species belong to the mesophytic (U3-3,5), micromesothermic (T3-3,5) and weaker acid-neutrophiluos (R4-4,5) categories. Key words: Mureş hydrographic basin, species-list. Introduction Th e Mureş River, with its 768 km length is the largest waterway in the Tisa catchment area. Its 30 000 km2 hydrographic area makes it one of the most important rivers of the Carpathian Basin. Its spring is to be found in the Hăşmaşu Mare Mountains, from where, through the Gheorgheni-basin, it gets between the volcanic mountains 63 Biologia | Acta Scientiarum Transylvanica, 15/1, 2007 (Harghita, Gurghiu, Călimani).
