September 2012 Volume 6, Issue 1 The NUMS Football teams hope to improve records.

The 8th grade team is 2 and 4. They beat Elgin 52-0 and Northmor 36 -8. Unfortuneately they have been defeated by Pleasant (20-32); Grant (14-18); (BV 28- 32); and Mt. Gilead (6-12). The team has 2 more games remaining with high hopes for victories so to achieve 50/50 record for the season. High lights for season in- clude Tim D. -- he scored the only TD against Mt. Gilead this last week; Luke K. and Henry M. have provided some major tackles thus far; Dawson S. has shown strong ability with his throwing arm as QB. The sad to the season is that Nate K. has been injured and is out the rest of the season. NUMS Sea of Pink The 7th grade team has a record of 3-3. They have defeated Pleasant (20-0) ; Grant (28-20); and Mt. Gile- ad (38-6). The losses have been delivered by Ben Logn (6-36); Grant (12-36); and Buckeye Valley (0-6). They also have two games remaining against Cardington and Highland as do the 8th graders. Highlights for the 7th graders include offensively Chris C. & Garrett M. have provided some strong yardage as their running backs as well as on defense they have supplied some powerful hits along with Sam L. from the Defensive End position. Woodrow Wilson Marching Talk By Monica W. Mark time Mark, Pinwheels, Reverse March, Step-two, Two count step! I’ll show you how to do them if you’d like!

These are some of the basics of being in the North Union High School marching band. The school’s entire band director, Mr. Ivan Leavitt, leads all of us in a series of movements and notes. Between

NU the Music and Drills during halftime, do you know what happens off the field? On the busses to and back when we have away games? Or what happens in the stands? This is your Marching Talk. BAND This year’s 8th grade members are: Cassandra S. (Flute), Monica W. (Trombone),Meaghan O. (Clarinet), Haley S. (Clarinet), Jennifer C. (Clarinet), Joy H. (Trumpet), Juliann W. (Trumpet), Chelsea S. (Trumpet), Clara H. (Symbols), Brei L. (Symbols).

Though every year the band plays the fight along with other ; this year we are bringining back the past with musical hits like Sweet Caroline, We Got the Beat and Great Balls of Fire. Additioanlly, to be an eclectic band we have more current tunes like Runaway Baby. Whatever songs that we play you know that we can make you want to get up and dance to the beat.

There are several moves that take a lot of work to perform while playing your instrument. One is pinwheels on Great Balls of Fire. Everyone in your line has to be straight and stay on tempo. Other difficult moves are the two count march in Sweet Caroline where you have to stay on tempo but take slower steps. There are several things that people don’t see how we have to work at these things in order to put on a good show. There are some songs that have very little motion and some have a huge amount of motion. that we just need to shoot the cob right into the ground. Let go of what your momma gave you in We Got the Beat. Watch and laugh as you think of things that relate to Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. They at the end of a game relaxes and enjoy the great hit Ain’t Been Good. There are so many moods that Marching Band songs can put you in and i hope that you all get the chance to watch and hear us.

I Love Mustaches! By: Jessica V. The definitions of mustache are facial hair grown above the lip. There are all different types of styles for mustaches like Chevron mustache style, Dali mustache style, English , Freestyle mustache style, Handlebar, Horseshoe mus- tache style, Imperial mustache style, Mexican mustache style, Natural mustache style, Pencil mustache style, and Toothbrush mustache style. In Western cultures women generally avoid the growth of facial hair. In rare circumstances woman may choose to embrace the growth of mustaches. The main reason that mustaches are popular is that mustaches are amazing, because you can design them in many ways. You show your creativity with them like when you are happy, then you can curl them and when sad you can make them go down. When you are feel- ing fun then you can do free style.
