The Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow was founded in 1991 on the initiative of prominent Russian conductor Evgeny Kolobov (b.1946-d.2003) and Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and soon won recognition as a leading opera house in Russia. The artistic creed of the theatre can be defined as enthusiastic creative quest and bold innovation. The Novaya Opera has the original repertoire based on the musical versions by Evgeny Kolobov: Glinka’s Ruslan and Lyudmila, "O Mozart! Mozart..." (based on the opera Mozart and Salieri by Rimsky-Korsakov and Mozart's Requiem), Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Verdi’s La Traviata, and includes such popular operatic works as : Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden and The Tsar’s Bride, Rubinstein’s The Demon, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Bellini’s Norma, Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Verdi’s Nabucco and Rigoletto, Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci, Wagner’s Lohengrin. The Novaya Opera was the first in Russia to stage Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, Catalani’s La Wally, Verdi’s I Due Foscari, Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov (in the first composer’s adaptation), Thomas’ Hamlet. The new theatrical genre was created: it is the original artistic image of famous composers and musicians (“Maria Callas”, “Viva Verdi!”, “Vincenzo Bellini”,”Richard Wagner”, “Rossini”, “Bravissimo!”). Novaya Opera has over 70 operatic and concert productions in its repertoire. The Novaya Opera Theatre is noted for its innovative approach to scenography and stage direction. It works with renowned masters of the theatre art to make productions in different genres and styles. -

Spatial Evolution of a Museum Building: a Case of the State Historical Museum
SPATIAL EVOLUTION OF A MUSEUM BUILDING: A CASE OF THE STATE HISTORICAL MUSEUM Thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Leicester by Anna Mikhailova MA School of Museum Studies University of Leicester September 2017 Abstract Spatial Evolution of a Museum Building: A Case of the State Historical Museum in Moscow Anna Mikhailova This thesis contributes to the modern understanding of museum architecture, by exploring the relationship between a museum as an organisation and its physical form of the museum building. By choosing the spatial transformations at the State Historical Museum in Moscow as a case study, it introduces Russian museum practices into international museological context. The thesis analyses the planning and construction stages, as well as two major renovations that took place in significantly different political contexts: Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union and the modern democratic Federation. Applying a micro historical approach and a facility management lens offers an insight into the complexity of the processes that shape the physical space: its sensitivity to internal and external agencies and multiple contexts, such as the urban built environment; the political climate and the economy; museum trends; and the professional community. The building itself, once completed or at earlier stages, becomes another actor in the equation. An in-depth analysis of the events in question reveals the elaborate nature of the production of space, and demonstrates the importance of professional communication and interpersonal relationships that can impact the institution, both positively and adversely. The attitudes to the Museum, demonstrated by different governments over the years, offer an insight into how a central location can be viewed as a bigger asset than the institution itself and discourage it from independence, both organisationally and spatially. -

Box 1346 Ann Arbor, Ml 48106-1346 Ti-f£$£ IP ^6^771 Abstract The Russian legitimation formula contains the arguments the Russian leadership advanced to promote its state-building project between 1991 and 2000. The period of investigation coincides with Yeltsin’s presidency. The focus is on how the legitimation rhetoric was adjusted both to changing circumstances over time and to three main audiences: the Russian domestic population, the Russian domestic elites and the international community. In order to analyse the contents of the legitimation formula a framework was developed which divided the different arguments used by the Russian leadership into six main categories (democratic, national, charismatic, eudaemonic, external and negative arguments). The material selected for analysis had to relate to basic features of statehood. -

Glávnyj Universáĺnyj Magazín literally "main universal store") With the façade extending for 242 m. along the eastern side of Red Square, the Upper Trading Rows (GUM) were built between 1890 and 1893 by Alexander Pomerantsev (responsible for architecture) and Vladimir Shukhov (responsible for engineering). The trapezoidal building features a combination of elements of Russian medieval architecture and a steel framework and glass roof, a similar style to the great 19th-century railway stations of London. William Craft Brumfield described the GUM building as "a tribute both to Shukhov's design and to the technical proficiency of Russian architecture toward the end of the 19th century”. The glass-roofed design made the building unique at the time of construction. The roof, the diameter of which is 14 m., looks light, but it is a firm construction made of more than 50,000 metal pods (about 819 short tons (743 t), capable of supporting snowfall accumulation. -

They have been selected to participate in several workshops and pitches such as: IDW Visions du Réel; Cross Video Days; Docs Barcelona. ABRA ENSEMBLE Hall I + Abra Ensemble (Performance Space Exhibition) ABRA Ensemble's works aspire to undermine existing power structures as they express themselves in the voice, language patterns and ways of speech. They seek rather communal, feminist strategies of composition, listening and creative-coexistence. Exposing the emergence of the music itself, ABRA Ensemble bridges the existing limits between contemporary virtuoso vocal art and the performative, transformative encounter with an audience. In the five years since its founding in 2013, the ensemble has performed at a diverse range of venues in Israel and Europe, released a debut album and gained considerable recognition both in the new-music and contemporary performance scene. YARON ABULAFIA Jury Member 2019 / PQ Ambassador Yaron Abulafia has designed over 200 theatre and dance performances, installations, concerts and television shows internationally. He has designed for the Netherlands Dans Theater, the English National Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Staatsballett Berlin, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and the Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj in Romania – to mention but a few. -
Romanov News Новости Романовых
Romanov News Новости Романовых By Paul Kulikovsky №90 September 2015 Monument to H.H. Prince of Imperial Blood Oleg Konstantinovich was opened in Tsarskoye Selo September 29, in Tsarskoye Selo, in the territory of the St. Sophia Cathedral was inaugurated a monument to the son of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich - Prince Oleg Konstantinovich, who participated in the First World War and was mortally wounded during a battle, and died a few days later. He gave his life for the Faith, Tsar and Fatherland. The monument is made on the initiative of the Fund Ludvig Nobel. The location for the monument is well chosen and not at all accidental. St. Sophia cathedral was the regimental church of the Life-Guard Hussar Regiment, in which served Prince Oleg. The sculpture is not entirely new, as it is cast after the pre-revolutionary model by the sculptor Vsevolod Lishev. Anna Yakovleva, Ludvig Nobel Foundation: "The sketch of the monument was designed by sculptor Lishev in 1915. But after the events that followed, it could not be put, but it was casted. By the way, the sketch was approved by the father of Oleg Konstantinovich." The new monument is made by sculptor Yaroslav Borodin. The ceremony began with a memorial service at the St. Sophia Cathedral, which was headed by Dean of the Tsarskoye Selo district Archpriest Gennady (Zverev). Chairman of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, Sergey Stepashin said - "Today is a truly historic day. It is a day when we remember the wonderful and worthy representative of the Romanov dynasty, who died at age 22 on the front of the First World War.
