There will be ukuleles available to borrow if you do not have one, and a large variety of quality ukuleles for anyone to purchase at the store. The first hour will be for beginners. After an intermission, the second hour will be for more intermediate and advanced players. Anyone can suggest songs to share as long as they bring enough copies of music to the group. Vallejo Admirals Special Events Wednesday Night Live Featuring Angelex The Vallejo Admirals are holding several special events throughout the month of June. Second Friday Art Walk

The Vallejo Art Walk occurs on the second Friday of every month. Located in the Downtown Vallejo Arts and Entertainment District, this event encourages the sale of art and also celebrates the growth of artists moving to the area. Most businesses and galleries are located within the central area of the downtown district, and easily accessible by foot. A map of the area highlights stores participating in the art walk. Greater Vallejo Recreation District Arts and Concerts in the Park The Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) Arts and Concerts in the Park present Self-Proclaimed Super Hero's. GVRD manages 407 acres of public park space including 20 neighborhood parks, 10 community parks, 6 special purpose parks, an Olympic- size swimming pool and 4 community centers. GVRD maintains over 1,000 acres of public land and offers programs that benefit over 120,000 Vallejo residents of all ages each year.

125th Anniversary Memorial Commemoration USS Boston Explosion June 13, 1892

On June 11 at 2:30 p.m. the public is invited to participate in a memorial service at the Mare Island Naval Cemetery to honor 15 members of the crew of the Protected Cruiser USS Boston who died on June 13, 1892, one hundred and twenty- five years ago, in an ammunition explosion at the Mare Island Naval Ammunition Depot. The USS Boston crewmen lie at rest in their grave sites in the Mare Island Naval Cemetery and are honored by their fellow shipmates by the largest monument in the nearly 160 year-old cemetery, the Navy's oldest in the Pacific. Members of the public who attend the 125th anniversary service will be asked to locate one of the graves of the young sailors and be given information from which to call out their name, rank and age. The service will include music, a reenactment of the remarks given at the 1892 service, the singing of the hymn sang on that day, and the unveiling of the monument in the crew's honor. Dillon Bread Company Pop Up June 15 & 29 Dillon Bread Company will return June 15 and 29 to host a PopUp event from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Located at 451 Ryder Street, the PopUp will offer pastries, breads, gourmet pizzas, vegetarian and vegan chocolates, caramels and much more. Throughout the year, the family-owned bakery hosts PopUp events to help support small Vallejo businesses, and continue their tradition of providing quality baked goods created locally. 29th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

The African-American Family Reunion Committee and the Greater Vallejo Recreation District presents the 29th Annual Vallejo Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17. Juneteenth is a national observance marking the emancipation of the last African American slaves in the . It also celebrates positive contributions of African Americans nationally and locally, promotes cultural connections, and creates an opportunity to build strong communities through access to health services and educational resources. Juneteenth will be held at City Park, located at 425 Alabama Street. The celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. There will be food vendors, live entertainment, children's activities, informational booths, and much more. To learn more, click here.

Northern California Pirate Festival

Celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Northern California Pirate Festival on Father's Day weekend. Featuring over 500 costumed actors, crafters and musicians, the festival is the largest pirate event in the United States. The event is part Mardi Gras, state fair, living history and pirate fan- fest for people of all ages. With four stages of continuous entertainment, rows of nautically inspired handcrafts, gourmet foods, micro-brewed beers, and ship-to- shore cannon battles, visitors will encounter a large number of characters, from mythical mermaids to British Naval Officers throughout the streets. A special children's area with a 30-foot slide, zip line, Children's School of Piracy, Treasure Hunts, and Costume Contests will also be featured at this event. The Northern California Pirate Festival will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available online, $10.00 at the gate for one day general admission, and children are free. Every fourth Wednesday of the month, the City of Vallejo and SactoMoFo present Vallejo Food Truck Mania. From 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. a delicious assortment of gourmet food trucks are brought to you from all over northern California. There is live music, family friendly entertainment, and tons of fun. All Food Truck Mania events are free to the public and the only cost is the food and treats you choose to enjoy. All trucks accept cash and credit/debit cards. Many trucks offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meal options. Inquire at the truck of your choice to see what menu items meet your dietary parameters.
