But, 23 what are mutants? They are humans with extraordinary special abilities granted by what 24 is known as “the Mutant X-gene.” They have lived among us, unregulated by the laws of 25 mankind for too long. Today, we present mutants with a simple choice: be a threat to 26 humanity or become a part of it. 27 Not all mutants seek to co-exist peacefully. We must confront the reality that there 28 are those who would rule mankind, rather than join it. -
AMPHIBIUS Villain
AMPHIBIUS Villain Real Name: Unrevealed. Occupation: Warrior. Identity: Amphibius's existence is unknown to the general public. Legal Status: None. Other Aliases: None. Place of Birth: The Savage Land. Marital Status: Single. Known Relatives: None. Group Affiliation: Savage Land Mutates. Base of Operations: The Savage Land. First Post-Reboot Appearance: UNCANNY X-MEN # History: The origins of the creature known as Amphibius are currently a mystery. He is – or was – apparently a human who was born in the Savage Land, a hidden "lost world" in Antarctica, and was mutated to his current form in some as-yet unexplained manner (see Savage Land). He and the other Savage Land Mutates first clashed with the mutant adventurers known as the X-Men on the latter's first trip to the Savage Land (see Savage Land Mutates; X-Men). The Mutates' mysterious "Master" ordered them to attack the visiting X-Men, but they were defeated. Amphibius has since been seen with the other Savage Land Mutates in their subsequent clashes with the Avengers and the Brotherhood of Mutants (see Avengers; Brotherhood of Mutants). Of all the Mutates, Amphibius is perhaps the most angry and short-tempered, probably because he resents the inhuman form he has been given. Height: 6' (normally appears as smaller due to his stance). Weight: 145 lbs. Eyes: Black. Hair: None. Skin: Green with black spots. Other Distinguishing Features: Amphibius has the form of a humanoid frog. Uniform: White chest piece with water circulation tubes running to a water tank on the back; water tank is also held by a black belt around his waist. -

Abstract Established in 2008 with the release of Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a ubiquitous transmedia sensation. Its uniquely interwoven narrative provides auspicious grounds for scholarly consideration. The franchise conscientiously presents larger-than-life superheroes as complex and incredibly emotional individuals who form profound interpersonal relationships with one another. This thesis explores Sarah Hagelin’s concept of resistant vulnerability, which she defines as a “shared human experience,” as it manifests in the substantial relationships that Steve Rogers (Captain America) cultivates throughout the Captain America narrative (11). This project focuses on Steve’s relationships with the following characters: Agent Peggy Carter, Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier). -

Before the Film and Publication Appeal Tribunal in the Matter
Before the Film and Publication Appeal Tribunal In the matter between: 3/2014 Ster-Kinekor Entertainment And Film and Publication Board Award Appeal in respect of the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier Background and context On the 13th of March 2014, a three-person classification committee, by a majority vote, assigned the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier (‘the film’) a restrictive age classification of 13(V). The dissenting classifier, Ms NoziphoMalambo, was of the view that a restrictive classification of 10-12PG would be adequate. Her view was premised on the conclusion that, while the scenes of violence were frequent and prolonged, they would not be threatening to children above the age of 10, as the violence was stylised. Mr NiqMhlongo and Mr Dave Ewart, in their majority report, justified the classification of 13(V) on the basis that the film deals with complex and mature themes, and that the violence depicted in various scenes is prolonged and can be described as having a mild to moderate impact. They accept that there is no portrayal of gore or bloodletting in the various scenes, but were of the view that some of the scenes might be misleading, depressing, and disturbing to children under the age of 13. In their grounds of appeal, Ster-Kinekor submitted that, as the impact of the violence was described as mild to moderate, it would be non-threatening to children aged 10 and above. 1 | P a g e They acknowledged that there were some limited mature scenes, but were of the view that any concerns arising from these would be offset by the reassuring presence of an adult. -

This is an article for anyone who wants to refresh their memories or wants to watch all X-Men movies but has no context. I present to you X-Men — all movies in order of their stories and timelines. You can find other films using the search option on top of this page. Well, when X-Men: The Story of the X-Men first decided to make an X-Men film, 20th Century Fox took licence for the Marvel characters that were core to the X-Men comic series. The films, therefore, are allowed to use only the core characters of the X-Men universe. X-Men: The Story of the X-Men, for instance, is licensed by Walt Disney Studios. Spiderman was originally licensed by Columbia Pictures. Because the two new Amazing X-Men: The Story of the X-Men movies did badly, the licence was moved to Walt Disney Studios. Mutants are a further step in the natural evolution of mankind. Some of these mutations are evident, some are dormant. Humans with evident natural mutations tend to get rejected by society for being deformed. X-Men fight for peace and equality between mankind and mutantkind. Their archrival is Magneto who believes that mutants should rule the world and not mankind. -
Gentrifying Crown Heights by Marlon Peterson (2011)
Crown Heights 1 Marlon Peterson [email protected] [email protected] Crown Heights: The Question of Gentrification, Violence, Social Disorganization, and Social Preservation. More questions than answers and the inevitability of neighborhood harms cased by gentrification. How does a community minimize the problems of in-migration? Crown Heights 2 “In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth. –Genesis 1:1 (New World Translation) “Crown Heights Brooklyn is my home. From the hallways of P.S. 138 on Prospect Place and Nostrand Avenue to Brower Park to Sonatas Steel Orchestra on Sterling and Troy to the West Indian Day Parade on Eastern Parkway, Crown Heights is my home. I am a true product of this neighborhood. I have received academic accolades in one vein and handcuffs in the other. I have seen Crown Heights grow from the crack-filled, crime- riddled days of the 1980’s to the gentrifying neighborhood it is becoming. Throughout it all, however, there has remained one constant; crime” (Peterson, yosos.org). When I grew up in Crown Heights during the 1980’s and 1990’s Prospect Heights was only the name of a notoriously low performing school with an even more infamous nickname for the way young girls from that school were viewed—Prostitute’ Heights.’ Now this name, Prospect Heights—still with the dubious nickname for the high school according to neighborhood teens—is the chic new name of an expanding co-opted section of Crown Heights. Real estate companies in an effort to sell homes at higher rates constantly increase the boundaries of Prospect Heights into the neighborhood formerly known as Crown Heights. -

16 發光的城市 A R O U N D T O W N FRIDAY, MAY 1, 2009 • TAIPEI TIMES OTHER RELEASES COMPILED BY MARTIN WILLIAms 17 Again Teen heart melter Zac Efron leads the cast in a pastiche of Click and all those body switch/time travel movies of the mid-to-late-1980s (Big, Back to the Future and the eerily similar title 18 Again!, for example). In this one, Zac’s loser adult manifestation (Matthew Perry) is sent back in time by a weird janitor to ... the late 1980s. There, in the irritatingly dissimilar body of spunky Zac, our hero gets his chance to straighten out his life, but not before some uncomfortable propositions. Younger male moviegoers are advised to skip this and see Splinter instead (see below). Older males might wish to see ... Two Lovers Joaquin Phoenix has taken a strange turn lately with a bizarre new appearance and manner and an attempt at a career in rap. Hopefully it’s a trick, because movies like Two Lovers, Walk the Line and 8MM show that Phoenix the actor should never be underestimated. This film by James Gray was made Not much to glean from before Phoenix grew the beard; in it he is a troubled New Yorker enticed by two women (Vinessa Shaw and Gwyneth Paltrow). The emphasis here is on dialogue, character and complexity. The Lark Farm A movie about the Armenian genocide directed by Italy’s famed Taviani brothers sounds WolverineWolverine unmissable — unless you’re a Turkish nationalist, of course. ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ fills in the blanks on Logan’s backstory, but with a slapdash script The story follows the misfortune of a well-to-do family brought undone by massacres and and an overreliance on special effects that aren’t that special expulsion.
