  • MØN Masterplan English Holiday Village
SUKKER FABRIKKEN MØN masterplan english Holiday Village e are very pleased to present the plans for the "Sukkerfa- brikken" - a forward looking holiday village which will be situated in the grounds of the old Sugar Factory by WStege Harbour. With an attractive location right by Stege Bay, the holiday village will accommodate an array of experiences, activities, and up to 500 holiday homes. Møn is one of Denmark’s foremost tourist destinations with Møns Klint as the internationally renowned main attraction. With the establishment of the Fehmarnbelt link - the tunnel across Fehmarnbelt - the island of Møn will be within easy reach for 15 million people in northern Germany, Denmark, and southern Sweden. We envisage that Møn will become the focal point of south-east Denmark’s tourism in the future. The location of ’Sukkerfabrikken Møn’ enables us to build right down to the coast - and even in the water and because the holiday village is situated on the edge of Stege town the development will be without any negative consequences for nature and the unspoiled coastline. This is also one of the reasons why the project is amongst one of the ten projects selected for an initiative by the national insti- tution Dansk Kyst- og Naturturisme which aims to develop, grow and strengthen the coastal tourism industry in Denmark. With the help of many business people and the country’s best con- sultancy firms, we have been working on the plans for several years. We hope that the prospectus will generate interest amongst poten- tial operators, investors, and all who wish to back this quantum leap forward for tourism in eastern Denmark.

  • Annual Report Fra Dark Sky Community and Park Møn & Nyord
Annual Report fra Dark Sky Community and Park Møn & Nyord Introduction Darkness is a resource we tend to overlook. In addition to municipal and state-owned light fittings, reaching out into the community and spreading the word about preserving a dark sky is an important parameter for the success of Dark Sky Møn and Nyord. One of the goals of our vision is therefore to inform local enterprises of the inherent potential of our dark sky and the need to preserve it and take care when we use light at night. We have organized workshops for local enterprises, including one specifically for electricians. They learned about the Dark Sky initiative as the demand for lamps and light bulbs that help to preserve a dark sky at night is increasing exponentially. Dark Sky Møn and Nyord won the Best Tourism Initiative Award 2017 (presented in January 2018). Geography, environment and energy Climate and area The long Danish coastline Denmark is a small country, compared to its closest neighbours. Sweden and Ger- many are, respectively, ten times and eight times larger than Denmark, which has an area of more than 43,000 km2. On the other hand, Denmark’s coastline is extraordinarily long for a country of this size. Denmark stretches along a coast of more than 7,300 km, which is longer than the Great Wall of China. It corresponds to almost one and a half metre of coast per inhabitant. One characteristic of Denmark’s geography is the many islands, a total of 391. The largest islands are, by order of mention, Sjælland, Vendsyssel-Thy, Fyn, Lolland and Bornholm. Jutland (including Vendsyssel-Thy) account for 69 per cent of Denmark’s total area. In addition to Denmark, the Kingdom of Denmark includes the self-governing areas of Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The ice-free part of Greenland is almost ten times larger than Denmark and Denmark is 30 times larger than the Faroe Islands.
