  • Walks Programme: July to September 2021
LONDON STROLLERS WALKS PROGRAMME: JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2021 NOTES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING COVID-19: Following discussions with Ramblers’ Central Office, it has been confirmed that as organized ‘outdoor physical activity events’, Ramblers’ group walks are exempt from other restrictions on social gatherings. This means that group walks in London can continue to go ahead. Each walk is required to meet certain requirements, including maintenance of a register for Test and Trace purposes, and completion of risk assessments. There is no longer a formal upper limit on numbers for walks; however, since Walk Leaders are still expected to enforce social distancing, and given the difficulties of doing this with large numbers, we are continuing to use a compulsory booking system to limit numbers for the time being. Ramblers’ Central Office has published guidance for those wishing to join group walks. Please be sure to read this carefully before going on a walk. It is available on the main Ramblers’ website at www.ramblers.org.uk. The advice may be summarised as: - face masks must be carried and used, for travel to and from a walk on public transport, and in case of an unexpected incident; - appropriate social distancing must be maintained at all times, especially at stiles or gates; - you should consider bringing your own supply of hand sanitiser, and - don’t share food, drink or equipment with others. Some other important points are as follows: 1. BOOKING YOUR PLACE ON A WALK If you would like to join one of the walks listed below, please book a place by following the instructions given below.

COMMUNITY PLAN FOR CHORLEYWOOD 1. Executive Summary 2. What is a Community Plan? 3. A Brief History of Chorleywood 4. Chorleywood Today 5. Action Points: • Village Life • Open Spaces • Planning • Leisure • Health • Schools and Education • Ýõä ĦæäñçÝõäñöóòõ÷ • Crime and Security 6. Ûèöóòñçèñ÷ÙõòĤïè 7. Community Plan Committee 8. Contact Details The foundations of this Community Plan are the responses from residents of Chorleywood to a questionnaire circulated to every household in the Parish. A Committee comprising representatives of the main community organisations within Chorleywood has analysed these responses and compiled this report. The main issues and concerns highlighted by residents are: • Protection of our open spaces and green environment • Lack of adequate parking facilities in the shopping area • Lack of diversity of shops and businesses in the village • Üóèèçìñê÷õäĦæòñïòæäïõòäçö • Öäìñ÷äìñìñêèģèæ÷ìùèóïäññìñêæòñ÷õòïöæòñöìçèõìñê the local demographics. • Senior school admissions policies Ýëìöçòæøðèñ÷öè÷öòø÷öóèæìĤæ÷òóìæö÷òåèìñùèö÷ìêä÷èçäñç allocates them to local organisations who have agreed to accept responsibility for follow-through. A Community Plan is a document setting out achievable aims and visions for the future of a community, based upon the views of its residents gathered through survey, research and community participation. The Localism Act 2011 gave communities a greater say in the development of their area. In October 2013, the Parish Council decided to use the powers of the Localism Act along with wider-reaching aims and objectives covering other aspects of community life, to produce a Community Plan and Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for Chorleywood. A Steering Group, led by the Parish Council, was formed from a large number of community-interest groups.

  • Moving out of London for Village Life? Here Are the Top 7 Most Popular Villages to Move to in the Chilterns Submitted By: Hudia Tuesday, 16 March 2021
Moving out of London for village life? Here are the top 7 most popular villages to move to in The Chilterns Submitted by: Hudia Tuesday, 16 March 2021 Due to COVID, Chiltern Relocation has seen a shift in house-hunter priorities. Walking distance to a train station and a super quick commute into London, is no longer top of the list of requirements. Sharon Hewitt, founder of multi-award winning Chiltern Relocation said: “Clients are wanting a more rural lifestyle but are still keen to enjoy all the perks of town life such as local schools, pubs and shops and an active community. We’ve drawn up our list of the seven most popular village locations in The Chilterns, perfect to relocate to.” Penn Penn is a sought-after village in Buckinghamshire, a couple of miles north of Beaconsfield. At its centre is a very picturesque duck pond and village green. Penn is within the Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is very popular with families wanting a semi-rural setting but close to major transport links. It is only minutes from the M40, M25 and Heathrow. Penn is also very close to the mainline rail station at Beaconsfield with journey times of approx. 25 minutes to London Marylebone. Penn has a thriving village community. It boasts a few village shops and doctor’s surgery. There are a number of excellent local country pubs dotted around Penn and the neighbouring villages of Tylers Green and Forty Green. There are great primary schools in the village. Penn Street Penn’s smaller neighbour, Penn Street, is nestled in the Chiltern hills.

  • Green Belt Assessment for Three Rivers District and Watford Borough
Chorleywood Parcel CH7 Description Flat, open fields to the south of the inset settlement edge along Old Shire Lane, to the west of Bullsland Lane. The only development is the buildings of Bullsland Farm, which have no urbanising influence. Trees along and close to Old Shire Lane create a strong settlement edge, and the parcel abuts the extensive Philipshill Wood (an ancient woodland) to the west and further farmland to the south and east, all of which slope away relatively strongly from the plateau on which this parcel is located. Impact on contribution Purpose 1 Contribution - Check the unrestricted sprawl of large built-up areas Chorleywood is close enough to more contiguous urban development to the east to be considered to constitute part of the large built-up Significant area extending out from Greater London. The parcel is open and undeveloped, with no sense of containment from the wider Green Belt. Therefore release of the parcel would constitute significant urban sprawl. Purpose 2 Contribution - Prevent neighbouring towns merging into one another Chorleywood is not considered to be a town, and land to the south of it does not contribute significantly to the gaps between any towns. Limited – No contribution Purpose 3 Contribution - Assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment The parcel contains no urbanising development and has a strong relationship with the adjacent Green Belt. Tree cover along the inset Significant settlement edge limits its relationship with the urban area. Impact on adjacent Green Belt Release of the parcel would result in weaker Green Belt boundary, but there is sufficient distinction between this plateau area and the Minor valley sides to the south and east, and the woodland to the west, to limit harm to the wider Green Belt.
