President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. As always, if you want to reach me to discuss anything, please send me an email at roger.laime@aecom or call me on my cell phone at 518-772-7754. Please be considerate of others, be safe and think warm weather. Roger Laime Treasurer’s Report June 15th, 2020 I want all of our members to be aware, especially our newer members that you will see a bunker renovation fee on your July invoice. This is our final year of our 5 year bunker renovation project as Steve and his staff have recently completed #13. The fee will be 3% of dues for your membership category.

  • Jim Gallagher, Jr
HEIGHT: 6’0” WEIGHT: 195 BIRTHDATE: March 24, 1961 RESIDENCE: Greenwood, Mississippi FAMILY: Wife, Cissye; Children, Mary, Thomas, Kathleen, Elizabeth SPECIAL INTERESTS: Hunting, Family Jim Gallagher, Jr. TURNED PROFESSIONAL: 1983 Player Biography Growing up in a family of golfers, it is no surprise that Jim Gallagher, Jr. found a successful career on the PGA Tour. He began golfing at the age of six, under the instruction of his father, Jim Sr., a professional of 38 years. Since the family lived on the property of a country club, it was easy for Jim and his siblings to take up the game and become devoted to it at an early age. His younger siblings, Jeff and Jackie, have also proven themselves to be talented professional golfers. With five PGA Tour Victories, Jim Gallagher, Jr. has certainly enjoyed his career on the PGA Tour since turning professional following his college graduation. His first of five PGA Tour wins came in 1990 at the Greater Milwaukee Open. In 1993, Gallagher was a two-time winner with victories at the Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic and The TOUR Championship. In 1995, he duplicated that performance with two wins at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro and the FedEx St. Jude Classic. Both of these victorious years took Jim beyond the million-dollar mark in winnings. Gallagher’s playing resume also boasts participation on the 1993 Ryder Cup team, where he defeated European Seve Ballesteros 3 and 2 to seal the United States victory at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England. Gallagher was also a member of the inaugural 1994 President’s Cup team, and recorded a 3-1 mark.

  • Wake Forest Annual Pro-Am Curtis, Lanny and Scott Are Reminiscing by the Pro Shop
Wake Forest Annual Pro-Am Curtis, Lanny and Scott are reminiscing by the pro shop. Jay is watching brother Jerry take some practice putts. Arnold is reminiscing with Jesse Haddock, while Billy is striking fear into the group with frightening golf cart maneuvers. Yes, that’s Strange, Wadkins, Hoch, the Haas brothers, Palmer and Andrade. One would seldom find such an array outside of the practice tee at a major — but this is the scene most every year at the Wake Forest Pro-Am, held the Monday before the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic. Not even an unusually frosty April morning can dampen the spirits of those present — the Pro-Am brings together some of the world’s finest golfers who are also the best of friends. Curtis Strange wrote in GOLF Magazine, “I went to college to prepare myself to become a professional golfer. But what I received during my time in school turned out to be so much more. I made friendships that have lasted to this day. I learned lessons that have served me well. And, that’s not even mentioning what Wake Forest University did for my golf game. That’s why I don’t hesitate whenever the school asks me to come participate in the Wake Forest Pro-Am each year. And neither do a lot of people. “None of us who attend are paid any fees and all of us do so for a deep and abiding love for a school that treated us so well for so long. We feel we must continue to in the legacy of our coach, Jesse Haddock, who always told us we should contribute in some way.

  • 2004 PGA TOUR Media Guide / 1-1 Table of Contents
A Message to the Media n behalf of the players and staff, welcome to the 2004 PGA TOUR season. We appreciate your continued interest in our sport, and we clearly recognize the extent to which our success is tied to the thorough and professional coverage we receive from a Owide variety of global media outlets. As the PGA TOUR begins another great season, we can truly state that the image and competitive spirit of our players has led to the healthiest state in the history of our organization. The Sports Business Journal recently reaffirmed this when it published the “2003 League Report Card,” a survey of corporate sponsors’ opinions of their investment in sports properties. The PGA TOUR ranked first in overall satisfaction among the 16 major sports. This is important as we continue to raise the exposure of our tournaments, provide significant value to our sponsors and showcase the widespread excellence of our athletes. The competition level on the PGA TOUR in 2003 was at an all-time high, with season-ending honors going down to the wire. Tiger Woods recorded a season-high five victories and the lowest stroke average on TOUR and garnered a fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Vijay Singh won four times and captured his first money title. Davis Love III won a career-high four times, includ- ing THE PLAYERS Championship, making 2003 the first time in 30 years where three players won four or more times in a season. However, the depth of the TOUR was never more evident. Eleven players age 40 or older combined to capture 15 PGA TOUR titles.
