by Courtney O’Connor, COMMUNICATIONS & DESIGN MANAGER Wildwood Athletics: A Year in Review Wildwood athletics had another incredible year of growth, dedication, and hard work from all our athletes, coaches, and members of the Athletic Task Force. Take a look at highlights from the fall, winter, and spring seasons from our middle and upper athletes, as well as our 5th grade coed flag-football and soccer programs.

Wildwood had more than 165 athletes competing Winter athletics saw more than 115 athletes in the 2014 fall season and fielded 11 teams in four participate for Wildwood, fielding four upper school different sports. We doubled the size of our swim teams and five middle school teams. /Summer 2015 team (with 34 swimmers) and added a junior varsity SOCCER upper school team. In the upper school, our boys and girls teams ended CROSS-COUNTRY the season with fierce games against our rival New Our Wildwood

FALL SPORTS Our upper school athletes had one of their best Roads, with senior and captain Drei B. scoring the 14/15 seasons to date! The girls team came through with game-winning goal in his final high school soccer

a third-place finish at the Coastal Canyon League WINTER SPORTS game. Our girls middle school team won the Pacific finals and qualified for the first time ever for CIF. Basin League Sportsmanship Award, given by the Sophomore Sophia S. qualified for sectional finals, coaches and athletic directors of the member schools. putting her among the most elite runners in Southern Seventh grader Lily R. was outstanding as goalkeeper, California. The boys had excellent performances, as and 8th grader Alison B. led the team in goals and well, with 9th grader Matt Z. leading the team with an assists. all-league seventh-place finish and personal best for Coastal Canyon League finals. Congratulations goes to the girls middle school team, SWIM TEAM who won the Pacific Basin League Championship after Middle school athletes came home with more than . a convincing win over Turning Point School. Mimi O., 50 medals from the Pacific Basin League finals, . Lexy K., and Devon H. led the team as they dominated with several swimmers earning first-place finishes! . the Pacific Basin League. The girls upper school Ryder M., Eli O., and Tess L. led the team in a . varsity team propelled themselves to the playoffs, historic year. with notable wins during the regular season against Vistamar and New Roads. Nora B., Emma F., and VOLLEYBALL Moreua H. earned all-league honors. Seniors Carly R. and Maya H. earned all-league honors, Wildwood continued its expansion of an already leading the team admirably on and off the court. The 6th grade team finished 6-3 and made it to the SPORTS Coastal Canyon League Championship game—one of Upper school boys finished 5-5 in the league and were their best seasons to date. The Wolves fought hard led by juniors Griffin N. and Benicio W. until the very end and came in just shy of four points

in their last match with Willows. There was lots of SPRING excitement and fans supporting our team! SWIM TEAM The upper school swim team had a successful spring season, finishing second in the league. Ella E. and Riley D. earned all-league honors as they led our Waterwolves in the pool.

TENNIS Our tennis athletes enjoyed their first season competing, led by dedicated senior Benji M.

VOLLEYBALL The boys middle school team celebrated a successful second year, fielding two teams with 15 participants. The upper school girls beach volleyball team had six members in its inaugural year and were led by senior Carly R.

TRACK AND FIELD Upper school athletes had a positive end to the season with several members medaling at the . Coastal Canyon League finals. Tenth grader . Sophia S. advanced to the CIF quarterfinals in Carpinteria. Middle school track and field also had . a great year, wrapping up the season with 11 medals. . In addition, the girls 4x400 relay team broke the school record, as did 7th grader Lily R. in the shot put. The girls team finished fourth overall out of 13 teams.

GOLF Middle school athletes Brennan B., Noah A., and Kai S. played in the Pacific Basin League finals at The Lakes in El Segundo.

FLAG FOOTBALL Fifth graders concluded another exciting season of coed flag football. They improved at learning how to pull flags, understanding the different offensive and defensive positions, and becoming experts at sportsmanship through wins AND losses. More than 30 students participated, which is more than half the 5th grade class!

SOCCER Fifth grade coed soccer also finished a remarkable season finishing 5-1-1. Jacob G. had a highlight of
