MAY 7, 2018 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: THOM SIMMONS MEDIAMEDIA RELEASERELEASE CIF SOUTHERN SECTION-FORD SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGHLIGHT OPENING WEEK OF SPRING PLAYOFF COMPETITION LOS ALAMITOS -- The member schools of the CIF Southern Sec on will open the fi nal playoff peri- od of the 2017-18 school year, as the CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Spring-Sport Playoff s and Championships get underway this week. The boys and girls swimming and diving prelims and fi nals will highlight the ac on. Pairings were announced last Friday in the sport of boy’s volleyball. Post-season track and fi eld com- pe on for boys and girls will also begin this week, with four divisional prelim meets on the schedule The CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Swimming and Diving Championships will be conducted at the Riv- erside Aqua cs Complex on the campus of Riverside City College. Diving prelims/fi nals began this morning (Boys and Girls Divisions 2 and 3) and con nue through tomorrow (Divisions 1 and 4). Swimming sessions will open with the Division 4 prelims Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Division 3 compe- on also begins on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Division 1 gets underway at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, while Di- vision 2 prelim compe on starts at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The championship mes start with Division 3 on Thursday with swimming beginning at 5:00 p.m. Division 4 takes place on Friday with the fi rst race at 5:00 p.m. Saturday championships begin with Division 2 at 11:00 a.m. and Division 1 at 4:00 p.m. Swimming and diving team points will be combined to determine divisional team champions. TRACK AND FIELD The 2018 CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Divisional Track and Field Pre- lims are also on the agenda for the week, featuring four meets that each will quali- fy nine fi nalists in all events for the CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Divisional Championship Meet. All meets begin on Saturday, May 12 – Field Events begin at 11 a.m. and running events at Noon; Div. 1 at Trabuco Hills HS; Div. 2 at Moorpark HS; Div. 3 at Estancia HS; and Div. 4 at Carpinteria HS). The track and fi eld prelims will qualify nine fi nalists in each of 16 girls and 16 boy’s events for the CIF South- ern Sec on-Ford Divisional Championship Meet, slated for El Camino College on Saturday, May 19. -MORE- PR #27 2-2-2 BOYS VOLLEYBALL The 2018 CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Boy’s Volleyball Playoff s also open this week with fi rst-round matches in the fi ve divisional single-elimina on tournaments conducted at designated host sites on Tuesday. The tournaments will conclude with the CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Boy’s Volleyball Championships on Saturday, May 19 at Cerritos College. BOY’S TENNIS Pairings for the CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Boys’ Team Tennis Championships were released today. Compe on between the 193 entries will get underway with wildcard round matches in all divisions to- morrow. All preliminary-round matches will be conducted at designated host sites, beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The single-elimina on tournament will conclude Friday, May 18 at The Claremont Tennis Club.
