Back in the team in January, but after 8 games he got a new injury. Out for the rest of the season. o Central midfielder Vadis Odjidja: Played an extremely good season until a knee-injury put him out. From 15th of January until the start of the play-offs (at the end of march) o Leftwinger Lior Refaelov: Out for several games with several injuries. o Leftwinger Maxime Lestienne: Out from the 26th of February, for two months o Central midfielder Jonathan Blondel: Out since the 20th of October until the 18th of March In January 2012 Club Brugge sold Nabil Dirar to AS Monaco for the highest transfer fee in the history of Club Brugge. He was a key-player as a right-winger, responsible for many goals and assists. Comments in the media concerning Christoph Daum : Marc Degryse, analyst and former player and sportsmanager of Club Brugge and Anderlecht : We all played in the top league. We know how Christoph Daum can keep the pressure away of his team. He is right when he says Anderlecht will become champion, because his team is not as good as Anderlecht. He has far less possibilities in his team than his colleague in Anderlecht. To be honest, if Club Brugge becomes champion with this team, that would be a real stunt. They should put Daum on a statue in that case. Pieter – Jan Devlieger in newspaper “De Morgen”, 6/4/2012 If you know Christoph Daum as the yelling and screaming man on the bench of Club Brugge, you don’t know him really. Because in real life he is someone else. He “begeistert” and is so charming. He is the one who says what he is thinking. “I learned to live with my mistakes and weaknesses.” Club –player Lior Refaelov in the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, 6/4/2012 In the end, Lior Refaelov explains once again the difference between Daum and Koster, the former coach of Club : “Some people say they are two extremes. But that is not true. If they are extremes, it would have been impossible to work with the same group. Daum changed one important thing: today we are winners! Before, when we were leading 2-0 or 3-0, we were not sure to win the game. Now we know how to finish the game. " Jacques Sys, Head of Editors in Sport Voetbalmagazine (the most important Sports magazine in Belgium), 4 april 2012 Christoph Daum is sitting in the Jan Breydel Stadion, looking at the pitch. He reminds us of the fact that this rather old stadium has a nostalgic atmosphere. Outside youth teams are playing and you can hear their enthusiasm. It is the day after the 2-0 win against RC Genk. Club presented their real face, like they did the last few months... : creating chances, finishing the game and keeping a good defensive organization. Only, the game was not always that sparkling. More than any one else, Daum realiZes that the team needs to bring more quality. Once he referred to the job of a coach as an electrician: you have to find the bad plugs, change them and put the team again under high power. That is the way he is working in Brugge. Every day again Christoph Daum tries to take the inefficiency out of the team’s play. Convincing, motivating, inspiring, instructing and so on. This is what suits him the most. He is an artist with words, who loves to use metaphors or to quote from literature. Like he did a few days ago, from “The art of War” from the Chinese writer Sunzi, a book of metaphors life. Daum uses them without any problem. Like : “if you are not careful enough in life, trouble will be around.” Talking with Christoph Daum is an enrichment. His knowledge is not limited to the things happening on the pitch. With ease he entertains you about history, literature or the cultural wealth of Brugge. And he enjoys the process he is working on with Club Brugge. Some people say he ‘s a result-coach, okay, but in the end the figures are always there! 39 points out of 51, a score from more than 76%. But the team needs more balance. And that is why Daum, in his urge to get more quality in the team, needs –on behalf of the team- to step back a little in order to move forward again. Captain Carl Hoefkens about Christoph Daum in newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, 29/3/2012 The respect for Daum is there. It is from my period with Eric Gerets (in Lierse, 1997) that I met a coach with that kind of charisma. If I become a coach one day, I will let my moustache growing (laughing). No, to be honest: I will be inspired by him. The way he creates an authority is so special. At the same time, he is one of us, but also above us. If I could get that quality, I think I would be a good coach. Vincent Mannaert, General manager of Club Brugge, and Bart Verhaeghe, President of the team, in the Newspaper Het laatste Nieuws, 24/3/2012 «He brought the mentality and winning-spirit back in the team. A player like Refaelov changed completely from a technical player to a more complete player. The same for VázqueZ , Dirar, Odjidja.. He can show out players what they need to become a better European player. Our young players like Lestienne, Van Acker learned a lot. Daum is a winner and therefore very demanding! Every week we have a meeting and we always come to the same conclusion. It is so good what Christoph Daum brings to this club. He teaches us, with his experience, what Club Brugge needs to be successful. And we try to follow him. Only, he is used to work in a team with a larger budget and much more quality in his selection. He has the right to ask for more…. But I can only answer that Club Brugge is not Besiktas or Bayer Leverkusen . We need to work with all means we got.” .

  • Club Brugge KV V SK Rapid Wien PRESS KIT
Club Brugge KV v SK Rapid Wien PRESS KIT Jan Breydel, Bruges Wednesday, 2 November 2005 - 20:45 CET Group A - Matchday 4 When the teams met on 18 October at SK Rapid Wien's Ernst Happel stadium, a 75th- minute strike from Boško Balaban was enough to ensure Club Brugge KV victory. It meant the Belgian champions collected their first points in Group A, and left their Austrian counterparts still searching for a first-ever win in the UEFA Champions League. The one goal scored on Matchday 3 went against the trend of previous matches between the teams, with their two previous ties in UEFA club competition producing a hatful of goals. Rapid unbeaten in Bruges •The Austrian side are unbeaten in their two previous trips to Club Brugge having left Belgium with a draw and a win. Overall, their four matches have produced 23 goals. First meeting •Thirteen of them were scored in their first meeting in the first round of the 1986/87 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Rapid edged a thrilling first leg 4-3 at home as goals from Reinhard Kienast (2), Karl Brauneder and Gerald Willfurth cancelled out Ronny Rosenthal's opener. What should have been a comfortable first-leg victory from that point turned out to be anything but, as Luc Beyens and Dennis van Wijk struck for Club Brugge to narrow the lead and ensure a nervous finale. •In the return leg at the Jan Breydelstadion in Bruges, Kenneth Brylle Larsen and Rosenthal gave the home side the lead in the tie, but Rapid hit back immediately with goals from current Croatia coach Zlatko Kranjcar, Rudolf Weinhofer and Sulejman Halilovic to take control at 3-2.

(Pindar) Water. There's too much of it, or too little. It's too salty, or too sweet. It wells up from the ground, carves itself a way through the land, and then it's called a river or a stream. It descends from the heavens in a variety of forms - as dew or hail, to mention just the extremes. And then, of course, there is the all-encompassing water which we call the sea, and which reminds us of the beginning of all things. The English once labelled the Netherlands across the North Sea ‘this indigested vomit of the sea’. But the Dutch went to work on that vomit, systematically and stubbornly: ‘... their tireless hands manufactured this land, / drained it and trained it and planed it and planned’ (James Brockway). As God's subcontractors they gradually became experts in living apart together. Look carefully at the first photo. The water has struck again. We're talking 1926. Gelderland. The small, stocky woman visiting the stricken province is Queen Wilhelmina. Without turning a hair she allows herself to be carried over the waters.
