All of the courses are taught at the honors level. Advanced courses are marked as (ADV), and are offered for students who show a special interest in and aptitude for achievement in a particular subject. Students must have teacher recommendations and must meet appropriate pre-requisites to enroll in ADV or Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students who are enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses are required to take the College Board’s AP exam at the end of the year.

NUMERICAL MARKING SYSTEM AND TRANSCRIPT NOTES LETTER GRADE RANGE • Greensboro Day School uses a traditional “100-point” marking system, 97-100 A+ and reports grades and averages on the 100-point scale. 93-96 A • The passing grade is 60. 90-92 A- • Averages are calculated from numeric grades for all credit courses taken 87-89 B+ at Greensboro Day School. 83-86 B • Weighted averages (Year and Cum Avg Weighted): 10 points are added to each AP or Post-AP course grade; 5 points are added to each ADV 80-82 B- course grade in computing weighted averages.
