Award-winning Canadian author Lawrence Hill will speak to students about what it takes to be a successful writer. Event: A Speaking Engagement with Lawrence Hill Date: May 4, 2018. Time: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Location: Uxbridge Secondary School library – 127 Planks Lane, Uxbridge, ON L9P 1K5 Audience: Grades 9 - 12 Media Time: ONLY 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Students from eight high schools in DDSB will have the opportunity to hear from the award- winning Canadian author Lawrence Hill. He is well-known worldwide for his book The Book of Negros, which was adapted into a CBC mini-series, and for his most recent book The Illegal. Mr. Hill will discuss how he became a writer, the business of writing, his writing process, researching and Black History. The Q&A session will be a meaningful and exciting experience for our guest speaker as well as the 75 students who will be in attendance.
