State ofAlabama, et al., Civil Action No. 2:12cv179 - MHT, the Secretary of State is providing you the following important information regarding absentee ballots cast by UOCAVA voters for the March 13,2012 primary election: • The deadline for UOCAVA voters to postmark their absentee ballot is March 131~, primary election day. • The deadline for a local Absentee Election Manager to receive a voted UOCAVA absentee ballot is March 31'1. • The preliminary injunction did not specify the date for counting these UOCAVA ballots. The Secretary of State has recommended convening the absentee poll workers at noon on April 2nd to count these ba 1I0ts. • The returns from this count shall be made as required by law for all boxes on election day. • The official canvass of results is to be amended after these absentee ballots are counted. • The Secretary of State recommends the following schedule for amending the official canvass of results: Counting of UOCAVA Ballots in the March 13 th Primary Election Page 2 of 2 o April3'd - each county canvassing board meets to amend the official canvass of results. th o April 4 -- the chair of each county executive committee certifies the amended official canvass to the chair of the state executive committee. th o April 6 - the state executive committee meets at the State Capitol to receive, canvass and tabulate the amended returns.
