“You can’t defend what you don’t love, you can’t love what you don’t know”. This is the first of many steps of a path that we in- vite you to travel. A way to show hidden landscapes of Lanzarote, created in the artisan workshops of our island, footprints born out of the earth, the fire, the air and the island light that inspires us. This guide hopes to open a window onto the crafts of Lanzarote. It offers you textures and colors, awakens your senses to the magic of the work done with our hands, will signpost the way so you know where to find us if you are looking for quality crafts. This first step also builds a bridge for those who do not appear on these pages. It brings an opportunity for artisans and craftsmen to get closer, to get to know each other and to continue building together the future we want for artisanship. 5 01 OFICIO CRAFT: Perfumería Perfumery. No similar coarsening events are indicated in investigations of the sedimentological record for the last 180 ka, a period showing several dramatic climate changes. Therefore a mobilisation of Holocene dust by anthropogenic activity in the northwest Sahara east of the Canary Islands is assumed. Although scarce archaeological data from the coastal area of that region does not point to strong anthropogenic activity during the early Holocene, a high density of unexplored archaeological remains is reported from the coastal hinterlands in the Western Sahara. Thus, the hypothesis of early anthropogenic activity cannot be excluded. Key words: Canary Islands, Saharan dust, geoarchaeology, early Holocene, Western Sahara, desertification. Introduction Sediments derived from aeolian dust can bear witness to past environmental changes occurring in dust mobilisation areas.

This power system comprises two isolated systems: Lanzarote-Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. The generating, storage and transmission capacity to be built is determined by solving a two-stage stochastic investment model taking into account different long-term uncertain parameters: investment costs of immature technologies of power production and storage, annual demand growth, number of electric vehicles, rooftop solar penetration and natural gas prices. The possibility of linking together the isolated power systems of Lanzarote-Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria for reaching a higher penetration of renewable units is also considered. The operation of the power system is simulated by considering the day-ahead energy and reserve capacity markets. The variability of the hourly available wind and solar power, and the demand level are modeled by Citation: Cañas-Carretón, M.; using a set of characteristic days to represent the target year. The performance of the resulting power Carrión, M.; Iov, F. Towards system is assessed by conducting an out-of-sample analysis using the AC model of the power system.

Page 77 2 Introduction Welcome to this Camel Guide to relocating to Lanzarote. I guess you’re reading it because you’re planning or hoping to move the this lovely island one day. There are many benefits to living here, and we haven’t looked back since we made the move ourselves at the turn of the century. The contents here are an aggregation of four year’s work. We’ve selected the relevant parts from the 5,000 or so articles we’ve written and published on Lanzarote Information over the years, and put them in one place so you can easily access them. We’ve deliberately left the links in the various articles – if you are reading this on a computer or tablet, you will be able to click them and view additional content on our website. If you’re on a E Reader, you probably won’t. Things change fast in Spain, particularly in relation to paperwork! We’ll always do our best to keep this guide up to date, but if you do find something that isn’t correct, please let us know by emailing [email protected] We hope you find this guide helpful in your planning, and we look forward to running into sometime here in Lanzarote! Jules and Mike Haria de Lanzarote 2013 3 Facts and Figures About Lanzarote Population and land These figures are based on a Cabildo report.
