  • Redemption Found Believers Can Trust God to Be Faithful to Them
Session 3 | Job 19:19-29 Redemption Found Believers can trust God to be faithful to them. New York’s Saratoga National Historical Park contains an unusual statue. It is a stone monument featuring a military commander’s single boot. The monument’s inscription lauds but does not name the “most brilliant soldier of the Continental Army” who received a severe leg wound at the Battle of Saratoga. The unnamed commander’s hard-hitting attack at Saratoga routed the British army and assured an American victory in the battle. That victory helped convince France to enter the Revolutionary War on the side of the American colonies. French support ultimately tipped the scales in the Continental Army’s favor, leading to America’s long-sought independence. The boot monument pays tribute to this unnamed colonial soldier’s leg wound received while leading a final, victorious charge. So why has this man been denied the mark of respect due a military hero? Why was the commander’s name not engraved on the monument that honored his valor? The answer is because the soldier’s name was Benedict Arnold, a name that has become synonymous with treason. By the early summer of 1780, Arnold was a recognized national hero. He held the rank of Major General in the United States Army and had an unrivaled war record. George Washington considered Arnold to be one of his most dependable military leaders and named him the commander of the critical fort at West Point, New York. Regrettably, it was there that a disgruntled Arnold entered into secret negotiations with the British army to surrender the fort.

  • Russia Stamp Album Volume5v5.Qxd
FREE PAGE DOWNLOAD PDFs This PDF download: these are watermarked samples from my own design stamp album pages, albeit some at much lower resolution quality in order to keep internet download file size down. You may be able to glean a few design ideas from these, not that I am suggesting they are a masterpiece! Legal warning: no part or captured image/s of these pages and/or page designs can be used commercially, given away, or sold on without first obtaining my written permission. Software options I used an old version of QuarkXPress Passport (version 7.3 from my publishing days) to do all the page layout work (with its brilliant page element library) but other alternatives are Adobe InDesign, CorelDRAW and perhaps MS Publisher. You might also want to take a look at AlbumGen (stamp album design software) which can combine with images and data from EzStamp – follow this link https://ezstamp.com/software/stamp-album-software/ Get your pages printed professionally – not on a home printer. In terms of printing your own stamp album pages, most decent digital print shops should be able to print on larger paper size for you (e.g. A3 paper - ideally at 1200 dpi); then also guillotine to whatever final page size is wanted; and then punch/drill holes to suit your binder choice. Paper specification In terms of paper, I highly recommend Mondi Colorcopy 160g/m2 (59 lbs bond) paper – a paper that works really well with digital printing. You could use thicker paper if you wanted. Colorcopy paper is widely available in various paper sizes including A3.

  • At the Confluence of Art Nouveau and Ecclectic Early Modernism in Riga's
ZDZISŁAWA TOŁŁOCZKO* AT THE CONFLUENCE OF ART NOUVEAU AND ECCLECTIC EARLY MODERNISM IN RIGA’S METROPOLITAN ARCHITECTURE U ZBIEGU ART NOUVEAU I EKLEKTYCZNEGO WCZESNEGO MODERNIZMU W ARCHITEKTURZE METROPOLITALNEJ RYGI Abstract The aim of this paper was to draw attention to the coincidence of streets intersections ending, in general, in corner buildings making up typical and picturesque parts of the townscape of the 19th c. European cities, including the central quarter of Riga. This type of town-planning establishments perfectly compose with the art and aesthetics of Art Nouveau in Riga. An additional and very important component of the town- planning-architectonic solutions is the decorative finial of the corner houses (not only inJugendstil , but also the Latvian national romanticism) creating a harmonious composition in respect of art and town-planning, ideally completing the townscape of this Baltic metropolis. Keywords: Latvia, Riga, Cracow, New York, London, Berlin, history of architecture and city-planning, Art Nouveau, Modern Art, Jugendstil, National Romanticism Streszczenie Celem prezentowanego artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na koincydencję zbiegów ulic zakończonych na ogół wyraźnymi narożami, tworzącymi typowe, a jednocześnie malownicze, fragmenty krajobrazu dziewiętna- stowiecznych miast europejskich, w tym również śródmieścia Rygi.
